Hey guys,

A monitor I have just purchased used off eBay has arrived faulty (I'm guessing transit damage as seller insists was working before sent). The seller has agreed to return it for a full refund, but has also offered a partial refund if I keep it and get it repaired (hopefully under warranty as it's under 3 years old, but ATM they cannot find the purchase receipt). It is a very nice 24" MVA panel so I would like to get it fixed if possible....

The monitor is fine for a few minutes, but once warmed up it starts to display problems. The backlight starts to flicker on bright parts of the screen and strangely of all, once I come out of a largely static application (ie, Windows Explorer, Internet Browsing etc...) and load a rapid moving object (such as a game or movie) the screen turns black (backlight stays on however) and I start to get funky vertical bars (various colours) down random parts of the panel. If I switch the input to another source and back again (e.g DVI to VGA), eventually it goes away momentarily then reappears. This happens using both the VGA and DVI inputs. Here are a few short clips of the issues I am getting -

I am clueless with LCD repair, is this sort of thing expensive to get fixed? Any advice is appreciated, I got it for a good price so I am reluctant to return it if a cheap fix is possible. I am hoping someone here may have a rough idea what has gone wrong with it, would you say it is worthwhile to repair?

Just return it, it wasn't damaged in shipping. It's a scam common on e-bay. Would you have paid less for the nroken monitor?

according to video is not easy to fix. Something has to do with dsp circuitry level since you see lines. Best thing is to return it for refund.

Thanks for the advice guys. I won't go pointing fingers, but it does look weird doesn't it? I've had a number of screens delivered over the years through the post and I've not seen anything like this. I'll take their word for it if they put in a claim though.... Back in the post it is then!
