Laptop Suggestion

If using it for school 15" is about as big as you'll want to go anyway for weight reasons. Hauling around a 17"+ desktop replacement is misery by the end of the day.

The Lenovo will probably hold up better than the Dell, but I would do this: Look at Dell outlet at their Precision line. These are business machines and are far, far better built than any consumer laptop. They will serve you well. Also keep in mind there are regularly 20% off coupons for Dell outlet.
 
the weight/size of the laptop doesnt matter, I am a tall guy so the larger laptop is more suitable.

ill wait until prices come down on the ivy bridge chipset, the prices will drops soon and good laptops will appear in the outlets.

you should look at some ultrabooks if you're going for just school use..
