Laptop LCD flickers/goes out

Okay, so, my mom Toshiba Quosmio LCD does just what the title says. Sometimes it goes out, sometimes the backlight flickers like a florescent bulb that has gone bad.

I read that it seems to be a simple fix; that possibly just the bulb went bad and if i can get one, i might be able to replace it.

What are yall's thoughts?

Possibly the backlight is going out, but it could be the backlight inverter also. Maybe see if you can get the entire assembly? Look for a parts laptop on ebay/online.
