Alright, I've got a dell 1705 with the internal 3945ABG wireless minicard, does anyone know what I need to hook up to so that I can attatch an external antenna?

Would I be correct in thinking that the two wires I want are the black/white ones? I'd rather be sure before I go cutting things

edit: and why am I noobie  I registered here in 2003

You need the adapter like this: http://www.mini-box.com/s.nl/it.A/id.311/.f?sc=8&category=19

The two antennas work independently. Card chooses which one to take based on signal strength so you can have your external antenna plugged into one of them. I don't see the mod as practical however. Unless you find space to mount the big ass n-type connector you'll find it uncomfortable to plug in and out the external antenna.

That's perfect, fucking awesome. Thank you.

You could always purchase a pigtail that goes to a smaller connector such as sma or tnc.

Most mini PCI wireless adapters have a primary and an auxiliary, I only use the primary as my I8200 only has one antenna.

I've been wanting to put a RPSMA connector on the back somewhere, but I haven't really taken the time to do it. With the 2915 you can't choose antenna, it does it automatically, but I haven't tinkered with it much in Linux, it may have that option somewhere.
