Lan but no Wan access

is your router configured correctly for your internet connection?
ie, if your ISP uses PPPoE, is that configured? correct username/password entered into the router?
If your ISP uses DHCP... is your router receiving an IP address from your ISP?

or am I understanding incorrectly and you want to disable WAN access?

You want to disable access to the internet? Is this for all machines or just a specific few?

I am looking to disable Wan access from the a Vista machine, but still have it access the LAN.
Then delete the default gateway on the vista box. Without that, the computer doesn't know how to get packets from it's local subnet to any other subnet. Because the rest of your systems are likely on the same subnet, those'll communicate just fine, but it won't be able to get outside of it.

I'm assuming this machine is hooked up as wired and not wireless.

Find the port on the router the machine is hooked up to. Then go into the router's configuration and disable WAN for that port.

You may want to go into the router and disable that computer's access there.
