Has anyone else had problems getting this particular drive to recognize in the bios (or Via Raid Utility)? The weird thing is, when I disconnect the SATA cable and leave the drive plugged into the power cable, the drive spins up upon startup. When I plug the SATA cable in and boot the machine, the drive does not spin up at all. Im wondering if it's just a bad drive. Thank you all in advance!

On one of my customer systems, I had a bizarre problem, on a Via chipset like yours, where his WD740GD would detect as WD400BB (a PATA drive 
)and the system would be totally unresponsive, even in the BIOS, let alone an operating system. RMA of the drive solved the problem.
