I currently have the swans m10 and really like how they sound. However, the middle woofer issue is pretty annoying as I now have a dual screen set up. Dual wall mount for my lcds is out of the question as well. I just wish that middle woofer didnt have to be on the desk. This is why I want to replace them.

I found a pretty good deal on some KRK rp5 rokits for around $200. Would this be a pretty good upgrade over the swans? I don't really want to go the receiver route as receivers just take too much space, but I could go that route if its much better to do so.

Thanks

edit: these will be used just for music listening (mostly rock/alternative, pop rock, acoustic, and a little classical / video game arrangements. Gaming on the side as well, but I don't care much for boomy explosions.

I'd say the Rokits are very good as far as powered speakers go. A receiver + speakers would be the more flexible option, but I don't know about it sounding "much better."
