Arguably the finest damned $109 you could ever spend on Audio. The infamous Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speaker system is on sale at BB for $109.99

Buy a set even if you don't need one. You'll love em!

I've had 4-5 sets of these over the years and personally, I just keep going back to them. I currently have three sets in use. The addition of BlueTooth makes them damn near perfect.

One word of advise. Don't go ham-fisting the pod connector on the back of the sub. It is a known weak spot of this set, but it has been greatly improved over the last few years and really isn't a problem any more.

Also it was reported there is no security on the Bluetooth.

Don't buy if it's going into a dorm room lol

Good point, but it will affect maybe 1 in 1000000 people :)

I'm still rocking a set of these from around 9 years ago that I got for I think $77 with the Best Buy employee discount. I remember one time they ran them on sale for like $80 and some guy came in and bought like 5 sets of them.

I feel like I've hear rumors that the quality has dropped over the years? Any truth to that?

The amplifier is indeed different now. But the issue with the plugs messing up has supposedly been resolved.

Also the drivers in the newest units are different than the original version.

They might be built a little cheaper (thats progress) but the sound quality has not suffered one bit IMHO. I've had them since the early 2000's. The best thing they did to is fix that damned problem with the Pod conector breaking off. Thankfully that's a distant memory now.

Doesn't bother me. But many places I frequent on the interwebs mention this and people run from the Bluetooth version for this reason.

If it's in your home it doesn't much matter unless you have a problem with BT thieves standing outside your window stealing your bluetoothz. Short of being an interesting prank in a public area, it's a non issue as I see it.

Humans can be so god damn fickle :)

the BT version IS different. just look at the specs. a lot less watts from what I remember. The quality for the regular one has also dropped from what Ive read but it isnt terrible.

Bought one to finally replace my 12 year old promedia 2.1s

Thanks :)

Both are 200 Watt Max / 100 Watt Nominal (Continuous)

The BT version is actually rated 4db Higher.

It's still awesome for a $100 set of speakers. I can tell you it rocks my 12 X 18 kitchen quite well. These are no little 3 watt computer speakers.

There's something goofy with the specs. Note it's still showing the BT at 110db, higher than the non BT.

And it shows the same 200 watts peak.

Total System Power: 100 watts continuous/200 watts peak @ <0.2% THD 260 watts short-term peak power Satellites: 18 watts/channel continuous @ <0.2% THD, 1kHz 26 watts/channel short-term power @ <5% THD, 1kHz Subwoofer: 65 watts continuous @ <0.2% THD, 50 Hz 80 watts short-term power @ <5% THD, 50Hz

Still have my original one (no BT) that I bought almost ten years ago.

Amplifier called it quits sometime last year. Replaced it with one off Amazon that I mounted to the top of the sub box, redid the wiring from the sub to the amp. Practically brand new. Not bad for 30 bucks. It really kicks.

Can't say enough good things about these I've got the standard 2.1 version and have zero complaints. I really like the headphone jack and use it instead of the PC because even tho I've got a pretty solid sound card, it can't touch the amp in the Klipsch. Sounds good, looks good and can't be beat for the price.

love the 2.1's. my first pare that i got in 2010 died after 6 year, the board in the sub fried. was popping fuses and after i took apart it was all black and burnt. Had my 2nd set for almost 2 years now and running strong,

I had a 4.1 pair where the sub stopped working. I loved that set and thought about taking it to an electronics repair store. I have some Creative Z503 right now, but I might buy these to move that set back into the bedroom.

I’d stop worrying about the watts and keep an eye on the max output. Wattage is only one aspect of loudness, my current speakers require 1/10th the power of my old speakers due to sensitivity changes.

The max output on these are generous but they still thump being near field, despite being inflated.

Have had 8 sets of Promedia 2.1s for the past decade, all still running fine to this day.
Only failure was a wonky control pod.

Yeah, I had the gen 2 ProMedia 5.1 Ultra's. The only computer speakers that have ever sounded better are my current one's, but my current setup is $1000 worth of Monitors and a big ass Rokit Sub :)

These things have a cult following and for good reason. You'd need to spend $300.00 in my opinion to top them. At 109 this is the default answer, also I'd take these over most sound bars. Perfect setup for bedroom tv's, computer, work speakers, headless garage audio, home gym. Good find Larry. To any on the fence, buy now ask questions later.

i would strongly recommend opening the sub & adding active cooling to the amp itself. the cheaper parts now in use (compared to ~10yrs ago) can overheat (acutely or over time) & melt the board or fry its components. this is literally almost the only cause of failure for these units besides the old control pod wiring issue, which is now moot.

just note this set is not a carbon copy of the wired version, specwise, so the cooling issue might be a bit of an anachronism considering the lower wattage of the sub in the BT set vs the original. if the amp/board is the same, this set theoretically should not overheat. however, the BT sub & BT satellite tweeters are different - the amp could be as well
