Is there an inexpensive way to hook up these speakers to a toslink?

Theres this, but its fairly rare and i wanted to know if there was a less expensive way to get these hooked up to my macbook pro. Im currently running them as 2.1s which are fine, but i would like to use it as a 5.1.
I remember there was a little box that used to come with logitech x-540s that was the 3 analog 1/8 jacks to 2 RCA. I can cope with something like that until i find some kind of decoder box like the creative above thats not as rare and semi inexpensive.
