Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Bluetooth Computer Speakers ($79.99 w/ Walmart+ Membership)

Just got my set today - hooked up. Wow! These are pretty damn good desktop speakers. Been missing out. While my R41ms have been killer - They're just too big.

Not bad at all. Thanks OP!

I've heard on these newer models (the Bluetooth ones specifically) there's some issues and aren't as good as they used to be.

So I've heard. All good, can just hook these speakers up to an amp if need be down the road.

I had the original set back in the early 2000's, and just picked these up a few months ago. I don't think I'd ever notice without a side by side comparison. The biggest issue with this set is selecting the input can be wonky. (Line-in vs. BT) I've read horror stories of people in apartment buildings getting their speakers hijacked by a neighbor, with NO way to re-pair with their own bluetooth devices. I had a similar type issue one time already with my new set - pressing the main-volume knob as a toggle, wouldn't get it off the bluetooth, even though I had the set jacked into the PC line-out. Had to completely kill the power to get it to work. (that and...where's the power switch on these things?) There was a rocker-switch on the old set on the back of the sub to shut em' off.

The pain with these BT ones is that ANYONE can connect to them. You have zero control if your neighbors decide to connect their stuff to it and start blasting porn sounds at 3am.

Also, the front speaker cabinets are very plasticky and hollow, as they have always been and improve greatly if you add a few pieces of matting to the inner walls to weight them down, as well as pack in some proper polyfill instead of the tiny piece of fluff they put in there.

Thats the fun part. My neighbors bluetooth speaker shows up on my phone when I am in the basement. The fun one could have with a 70+ year old woman.

So use aux, and be done with it.

I had the Bluetooth version of these for a few years and they were great, until one day the amp started making a fizzling sound in the speaker and was unbearable. I trashed them and picked up the Logitech Z623 set and they've been doing great since December. They're a good alternative and have plenty of punch.

These are some of the nicest sounding speakers yet crappiest sets of speakers out there. Those control boards were awful, but man when they worked!

Damn!
Didn't see this until now and ended up ordering direct from Klipsch Thursday for $99 w/free shipping...and there were the older non-BT version and Certified Factory Refurbished too lol.

I still have my pair from early 2000. My biggest regret was not having money for the 4.2 set(was it 4.2?).

Keep mulling it over. I just have a pair of Logitech Z4's. These are better I know. I was playing most PC games through my TV plus surround, but been at the desk/monitor a bit more lately. Hmmm...

$49.00 currently.

Thanks OP. These will be a nice replacement for my old Creative 2.1s on my VR machine.

Shit, missed it.

My Creative Soundworks 4.1 system will have to last another 20 years.

Sometimes there are those just got to have sets of computer speakers:

I sold my old Z-5500 set to a guy that had been collectively collecting them for spare parts...he was talking all the revision numbers on the boards and changes they made throughout...he totally nerded out on it, and I made like $300 on the +10 year old set. Luckily the control pod was still in working order. I was changing up my work space and didnt have room for it all, went to two powered bookshelf speakers...Fluance Ai40W

I just bought the non-BT version last week before seeing this. For $49 I would have gone with BT. The discussion here makes me feel like I made a good choice. They do sound really good.
