This makes zero sense
My OCZSSD2-1VTX250G 250gb failed, was working when I left work, over 3 day holiday for thanksgiving, came in and the PC was at 'insert boot device'
drive wasnt detected in bios on any of 5 machines I tried it in, just died for some reason.
lease my g1 Intel 160gb is still going strong
They probably decided that the licensing costs that they have to pay to Intel aren't worth it.
Doesn't make any sense. They still are paying for the normal Intel 80GB/160GB drives, so dropping the 40GB would have little on their licensing costs. Furthermore, the 40GB just got released. They invested a ton of money in product preparation and distribution to discontinue it two weeks after its released? No way. Plus, they've already sold a bunch of the drives so they still need to support them. And why would they abandon something that has already been a very solid selling product? Doesn't make any sense.

yea, wouldn't really make much sense to pull a product that's been getting rave reviews recently
on a separate note, i got my email confirmation for the rebate on my 40gb drive a few days ago...[/QUOTE]
Doesnt matter if the reviews are good, if the margins arent there.
That said, I just ordered one from Newegg for $130.
I am not joking when I tell you that I spoke with a Kingston rep today who said:
1. 40gb discontinued
2. Newegg is not getting any shipment
Yet Newegg's ETA od 12/03/09 and 12/04/09 was correct. They do now have them in stock!
What is going on at Kingston?
Doesnt matter if the reviews are good, if the margins arent there.
