Answer to diversity. It is an historic recreation of an area devoid of diversity. Tired of the subject. Especially when it bears no relevance on the games subject matter.

They should keep politics out of reviews, disappointed in RPS. I stopped caring about review websites, preferring watching game play videos and browsing reviews from multiple sources.

I think the game looks interesting and will probably pick it up at some point. I have so many other games to play at the moment.

Definitely have never seen more realistic forests in a game before. The outdoor environments; foliage, lighting, and shadows is where this game really shines graphically.

Totally annoyed by lockpicking and the save system though.

Just journeyed through a forest for the first time, and all I can say is "WOW"!!!

Lockpicking, on the other hand... UGH.

    It's a great looking game.

I'm slowly starting to get the hang of the lockpicking (very easy ones) but this needs some refinement for sure.

I've got the lock picking down, but damn, it is hard as hell to find them.

Bugs, locking picking and saving system, by far the most annoying of the game.

    Still, one bad ass game!

cut paste-- steam from a steam review....

75 coins for a potion that lets you save the game. It can be frustrating when you need to play in short intervals or on a busy schedual. Lost about 20 minutes of gameplay in one restart due to the lack of a simple quicksave. I get why they would have made this a "feature" to make the game more realistic but that is no excuse for making a game that feels annoying to play. I can't recommend this game until this is fixed.

EDIT: There is a mod on the community hub (in Guides) that allows saving without saviour schnapps. Check the community hub.

There were a few things I didn't add to my above review that were sticking points for me:

The less than stellar tutorials. (Doesn't teach you things like "how to block" or "you can sleep to save the game".

The lockpicking mini-game which was clearly not designed for a keyboard and mouse.

The need for a load screen between talking to each NPC.

The save thing should have been a mode you enabled on game start up. Kinda like an iron mode that other games have.

Is this game steam workshop friendly? Lately I find myself enjoying mods more.

Just take your time. Which seems counter intuitive. Find the sweet spot, where the ball get yellow, then use the "D" key to rotate the lock. You need to match the speed of the lock turning. If the ball starts vibrating like crazy, change the speed of your mouse movement.

I figure it may be easier with a controller but haven't tried it yet.

We may be headed for a Cinderella story here for Warhorse Studios. This is fairly typical of the "consensus" I've been gathering on this. I wasn't expecting necessarily to see high scores like an 84/100 like I see here.

That's a really nice review even with the caveats that we know will be addressed to some degree or another.

And here I thought rock paper shotgun was a different breed of website. Pity. I stopped reading when the author of that article began to talk about the lacking diversity. In a historical videogame taking place in 1450. Sigh. No more page views from me will they get.

Having a ton of fun with this game so far, but does anyone else have the problem of cutscenes getting stuck at 12 FPS? Its really annoying, not the only bug I've found but the most irritating since its constant.

This looks really good. I will give it a month or two and see how optimizations are (i5-2500k and 280x).
If they don't improve I will until I upgrade next year and the game is all patched and DLC content is added.

I decided the same. I mean so far it is a great game with a good story. The saving/lockpicking thing really detracts. So you want to do a second playthrough, or hardcore mode, fine, otherwise, it was not a good decision IMO.

I caved in (once again) like a little bitch and bought it. I'm really enjoying it thus far. Combat isn't the greatest, but everything else is. I really enjoy how much real history is integrated into all the conversations you take part in and the random conversations that NPC's have with each other.

Something weird just happened, I decided to go with just the mod to have unlimited saves that way I can save before every lock pick and get it done that way. I like the minigames and just having it automatically unlock is soft.

Just went to a VERY EASY lock and when I go to pick it, the gold thing doesn't show up, the circle never changes size no matter the position. Have any of you seen this?

EDIT: Just deleted the file (for unlimited saves) and went to pick the same lock and it worked, gold thing popped up. WTF

So I guess you have to use both if you want the saves.....

I just spent two hours trying to make a sword this game is like one big Star Wars cut scene really sucks when you don't know what to do.
I saved it at the running part said that was enough =D Game is kinda tedious but is rewarding
