Kaspersky release Free version of AV

  2. I used it years ago. But now shouldn't we be a bit wary of using AV software from a Russian company? And isn't Defender good enough? If not, can somebody explain?

    I'm not trying to be pro-Russia here but I don't understand the context of your question and have my own questions.

    Does the Russian company somehow have less integrity than the American company collecting undocumented "telemetry data" from the operating system you're trying to protect?

    More importantly, will the anti-virus software self detect the OS as malicious and cause the system to eat itself?
