Kaby Lake POST video requirement?

Having worked with a few Skylake machines, the requirement to have a display connected (or a VGA dummy plug otherwise) to get them to POST using the IGP is rather irritating. To save having to actually buy one and test for myself, could anyone advise if this bug is fixed with the Kaby Lake architecture?

Thanks in advance :)

Sounds like its a mobo board issue. Its certainly not a Skylake/Kaby Lake issue and I am sure a lot of office workers can tell you that as well.

My Skylake NUC also boots fine without any display.

It's certainly something that affects Gigabyte machines and I believe some MSIs as well - we've also had similar problems with HPs at the office, so even if it doesn't affect every brand, it's certainly not an isolated quirk of a particular board (though admittedly I thought it was the first time I discovered it) - hence wondering if machines to the same spec using the Kaby Lake architecture are similarly affected.
