K8V randomly spins down HD and blue screens on OS install

I just put together a new system with the following specs:

K8V
Mushkin pc3500 1gb
sapphire radeon 9800pro
antec trueblue 480
athlon64 3000+
wd 250gb ata


After the post completes the hardware check my hard drive just randomly spins down and spins right back up agian. Then once i get into the windows xp install screen I get a blue screen error every single time and I have to restart. I have no idea what could be causing this or how to fix it.

Any ideas?
 
You need to check every system component for functionality

Sounds to me like its either a bad drive or power supply or possibly even the controller of the hard drive.

Its also not impossible to rule out smaller things such as cables...just do a little thinking and you will figure it out...

Make sure the jumper on the drive is set correctly with the way you want it configured
