Hi,

I just upgraded my Toshiba A105-S2091, w/it's 1.7 GHz Celeron M 390, ATI Xtreme 200m Chipset, to a 1.7 GHz Pentium M 735.

I'll wait w/the o/cing until later.

I've got 2 gb of memory, w/2x 1 gb sticks.

Using the Sandra 2007 benchmark:

My 390 cpu memory:

2039 int
2044 flt

With the 735 cpu:

1679 int
1647 flt

First the 735 memory is running slower, and my memory appears to be running single channel.

Shouldn't I be seeing my memory as dual channel, using the Intel M cpu's, w/at least twice the benchmark results?

Any idea why my 735 memory is running slower than my 390?

All my other benchmarks show an improvement w/the 735 vs. the 390.

Thx.

Update BIOS.

Check SpeedStep settings. It's possible your CPU has been underclocked as a result of SpeedStep. I know my Core Duo runs at 1GHz unless it "needs" the processing power but I've had times where the transition to full speed (1.83GHz) isn't as "seamless" as advertised.

I just upgraded my bios prior to the upgrade.

I'll check on that SpeedStep.I believe the Celeron M's don't support it, while the Pentium M's do.

Thx.
