I recently assembled my sig-rig and have been playing a bunch of PC games with it like Crysis, UT3, Bioshock, Assassins Creed, etc. I was pretty happy with the graphics at first but after a few weeks I started to doubt if it was worth all the money just to buy games I already own on the Xbox360. Anyway, my PC crashed so while some parts were on RMA I hooked the 360 back up to get my gaming fix. Wow! The thing looks horrible now. I can't believe what they pass off as HD!!!! I guess I never really noticed the difference, but its huge (and this is on a 720P set). PC gaming is where its at.

Now I'm not sure if I can even play the Xbox360 anymore after seeing how shabby the low-res textures and fake up-scaled HD resolutions they are passing off. Its funny because I had been gaming on the 360 for a while and held off on upgrading my PC. For all this time I've seen PC gamers complain about the quality on the consoles and I thought they were just being pricks. I guess they were right, PC has always been and still is the ultimate gaming platform.

Word, brotha.

Its not so much the graphics for me, I just hate the limited controls, no mods, etc.

Welcome to the fold..Now quick..put on your armor before the console fanbois get here..:p

LOL

Now here's a swift slap up side the head for doubting us, and a pat on the back for coming to your senses.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I remember the first (and last) time i tried a FPS on console. It was Halo 2 and i only played for maybe 3 minutes before getting so fed up with the controls that i never tried again. PC all the way for FPS's!

ETQW looks terrible on my Playstation3 compared to my PC, and I don't even have a great video card...yet. Running a 7800 GT.

The very fact that most of us PC gamers are pricks is a driving force behind the PC's superiority in performance, visuals, audio, controls and custom content. ;)

This just in: PC games are capable of much better graphics with higher framerates at higher resolutions than games on consoles.

This story will be featured at 11, along with our stunning report on the fact that the moon is not, in fact, made of cheese.

I think the real dealbreaker here is the massive amount of porn that can be collected and stored on your PC.

Word. I played CoD4 on my brothers 48" 720p TV and couldn't get over how grainy and generally shitty it played. Then factor in that you can play with more on the pc...yea

BF2 is a good example of how an uglier game is more fun because the pc can support a game of that complexity.

Crysis is a good example of how good a game can look on the PC. Now go buy STALKER, get some good mods, and see what pc gaming is all about.

I have recently returned to pc gaming after having built a brand spanking new machine, and the thing I am noticing most is the general decline in the quality of games as a result of all the console ports.

So far I have played stranglehold, lost planet, gears of war and bioshock (half way through) and they are all either very generic, poorly ported (especially stranglehold!) or just not very interesting.

Probably the thing which irritates me most is the fact that they are just plain not challenging. In most cases its almost impossible to die and there is no sense of achievement from finishing these games.

In so far as I see it, the problem lies in these games trying to appeal to a mainstream audience who may be easily frustrated if a game is too challenging and because of the fact that a joypad is infinitely more difficult to use in these types of games.

Maybe I need to stick to PC exclusives, which would be a shame given that there are lots of console ports in the past which I have thoroughly enjoyed (e.g. chronicles of riddick, midnight club 3, splintercell, KOTOR, etc)

Devil May Cry 4 is a kickass port from Capcom. They are finally realizing that super high res gaming coupled with excellent gameplay are what PCs are all about.

I have it on the flop box, unfortunately when you work full time there are not enough hours in the day to play all the games I would like to :(

Yeah me too, I tried playing on of the Call of duty games on the Wii, oh dear god! it tells you to hold the controller like a real rifle and aim , its so horrible... after 5 minutes of trying to focus the crosshair on the enemy because the sensitivity was through the roof I was fed up... never again!

well, I played halo3 on a 1080p TV at a friends house...although gameplay isn't nearly as good as PC FPSes...it actually looked pretty good.

Mentioned this in another thread similar to this one...

Todays "consoles" are just lower graded, poorer performing PC's. For a console fans preaching they are better than PC's is...ummm....whats the word...oximoron maybe???

Last console I had was the Play Station...the first one. Never got another one after that. I would have been a PC fanboy back then too, but I only had a Compaq 486, PRE-pentium :(, then I was able to get financing for a Gateway PC (yeah, was a POS, but enabled me to play PC games). Got me a copy of MechWarrior 4 and never looked back. My PlayStation gathered dust and I ended up selling it to a pawn shop, hehe. Took the money and went and bought Age of Empires.

I will however say this for consoles though. They have one good aspect to them. When you have friends over, its something everyone can play. Cant exactly do that on a PC, but I guess thats why its called a PERSONAL computer (PC).

think about it, 720p is 1280 x 720 pixels. Hell, I was running 1280 x 960 in like 2002. But yeah, in order to keep an old piece of hardware (read: consoles) playing the latest games they really degrade the game itself.

I just can't wait for this fall.

I want those slew of games to justify my gtx 280 or 4870x2 purchase ;)

Comparing PC's to consoles is like comparing Ferrari's to a Pinto.

Not another one of these threads ...
flamebait thread is flamebait.
