Okay.... granted I like to turn over every rock, but I'm now really wanting this thing to end. I've done everything but Point Lookout and Broken Steel, and have all areas explored / done EXCEPT SE corner across the Potomac. I loved the first 80 hours, now I just want to be done... I think this will end up a 150 hour game! I think once I hit level 30 and couldn't level anymore a lot of the fun died. Part of me wants to continue looking in every nook and cranny, but I think I'm just going to follow the quest line and end this juggernaut.

You're already a 100 hours in, why not continue playing like that instead of rush the end?

I personally hated Point Lookout. Also at level 30 I found the fun was pretty much gone. Especially since with Broken Steel they decided to just take the strongest enemy of the original game and double or triple its health(Ghoul Reaver has like 1200HP vs 360HP of Glowing One -.-). Point Lookout was just weird with those stupid inbred shits :D

I'm definitely far from being burnt-out on Fallout 3 with all the expansions or Fallout: New Vegas. I'm so hooked on the game it's somewhat pathetic in a sense. I don't have a life. :p

There are mods to increase the level cap, indefinitely if you would like. Unless you're on console that is.

If you're not having fun with it anymore, quit or put it aside for a while. It's a game if you're not having fun wtf is the point.

You might want to consider having some mods to change things a little to keep it fun.

I'm playing through again with some mods on like a 19th & 20th Century Weapon mods. It allows me to run around shooting the bad guys without using VATS, like a FPS game, lol.

We'll there are many mods out there you'll probably find a thing or two that interest you.

300 hours:eek:

How many times have you played through that game?

I'm currently playing it for the first time. I'm level 13 after about 20 hours.

I love both Fallout games. I don't have near the hours as the op but when you keep wanting to do things differently and when you start bringing in the mods, yeah, I can see how you get there. I'll never be uninstalling these games.

I'll definitely cross 100 hours on both games before long.

I played over 100 hours in both Fallout 3 and New Vegas and both were great games. I might even go back and play through some of the DLC if I ever get bored playing games like Oblivion which I can't seem to break away from, which I easily played over 700 hours total.

I'm about three quarters through the original game,I might reach the 100 hour mark with the DLC. Although it's enjoyable,it doesn't quite match STALKER,the Zone captured my attention much more than the Wastelands. But it's good enough to occupy me until STALKER 2 comes out.

I got about 50 hours out of NV. I'm not after achievements at all. If I get them, cool... if not, no big deal. I finished whatever quest I could get my hands on, traveled to most of the areas in the game... and just decided it was time to end it.

I'd probably play some more if I did get a DLC or something that would completely change the game, but until then... I've a lot of back log to take care of :D

I have 100% of the trophies for Fallout 3 GOTY on PlayStation 3 and I almost have 100% of the New Vegas Trophies. Granted, I also beat Fallout 3 before the trophy patch on PS3 so I beat the game on there about 4 times (easily 200+ hours).

I liked Fallout 3 so much that I bought the GOTY version for Xbox 360 and I'm 2 achievements away from all the ones in the main game and then I'm going to do the expansions.

I'm thinking about double dipping for New Vegas on 360 as well.

And why not buy it for PC? Not only you'll get better picture quality, but mods aswell.

point lookout was like the only worth while DLC there was, all the others were just linear FPS style gameplay.

while were on the subject is there any must have mods for it? I mainly care about graphical mods.

100 hours... maybe I should pick up fallout, didn't know the game was that long.

Its games like this and games like I just finished GTA:SA and Neverwinter Nights that solidifies my opinion that people are full of crap when they say 8 to 10 hours is acceptable for a $50 dollar game. They will usually use the going to the movies analogy. These people (IMHO) have been brainwashed by the corps, stupid or are to young to realize the huge majority of games used to last 15+ hours up until a few years ago. I've been gaming long enough to know many devs/corps today are doing their damnedest to give us less for our dollar. I'll continue to support those devs/publishers who treat us fairly. The rest can ............ getting off my soapbox.... ;)

Bethesda has always done a good job at making long lasting games. I mean with the Elder Scrolls games combined I have no doubt I've spent over 1,000 hours in their games which makes them one of my favorite game developers since they make good, long rpgs with tons of content, people can talk crap about Morrowind or Oblivion all they want but the truth is that there is easily 100+ hours of content in both games in vanilla form and hundreds more if you start modding.

I bought Morrowind and Oblivion twice so I might do the same with Skyrim, but more then likely I'll just buy the game and all the DLC as it comes out, I don't really mind dropping 50-60$ on lauch day and then buying all the DLC and expansions as I can never get enough Elder Scrolls.

Maybe you're too young to remember when a lot of Sega Genesis games could be beat in under 3 hours but they still cost $69.99 when they first came out.

To put in perspective and take into account inflation, that would be like paying $100 for an Xbox Live Arcade game.

It's always the same two statements on gaming forums: "games used to be so much longer" and "games used to be so much cheaper".

Neither one of these broad generalizations holds up very well.

These statements are usually the product of a person who has their rose tints on while day dreaming about playing FF7 and trying to compare that memory to beating Call Of Duty in 6 hours.

My memory isn't selective and I can remember spending a shit load of money on ridiculously short games for a lot longer back that just "a few years ago".

Where can I find the mod to remove a level cap? And are you're all save files compatible with it?

Firstly, I don't think we are talking about consoles, (even though Fallout 3 did get released for consoles). If you knew what to do, you could beat Super Mario Bros 1 in 3-4 hours or so, by jumping around levels.

But even still, you did have short games and long games on the PC, even take the first two fallout games. How about the Descent games? Doom, Command & Conquer, the old Lucas Art games using the SCUM engine? For many of the games, you could play them for ages. The Monkey Island games you could beat in a under 8 hours each if you beat it once. Space Quest anyone, where part of the fun was to see how many ways you could die...

There some exceptions, portal is for example an awesome,m but short game, i don't think many people will complain about it's length, but it is a sub 10 hour game.

I never said there weren't long games in the past, I was saying these "games used to be so much longer" generalizations are ridiculous.

Graphics and production values have changed dramatically, but there have always been overpriced games that are entirely too short considering the price of admission.

It just drives me nuts when people act like short games and overpriced games are "new" problems in the world of gaming (PC and consoles).

Eh, 100 hours isn't too bad. Still 2400+ hours shy of my estimated time spent in Morrowind (I didn't really keep track until just a few years ago, so the number is probably higher). Of course, that was logged across 7 complete playthroughs, and there's easily 150+ hours of STANDARD content within Morrowind and it's two expansions alone. God knows how many hours I've wasted with mods in that game...

My record is 252 hours,on STALKER:SoC. That includes playing through the original release, the Complete mod,and the Priboi's Story mod. That will probably go up when the Lost Alpha mod is finished.

It doesn't have to be. There is a ton of stuff to do and explore other than just the main quest.

problem is if you only follow the main quest.. you'll be very disappointed cause the main quest is like 5% of the entire game.. it isn't very long.

This will remove the level CAP but it only goes to 50, not 100, as many found out.

Thanks.
Most time I spent with a game is Grand Prix Legends. I've done over 500 online races in different leagues, with races averaging about 50 minutes each. There's usually a 30 minute qualifying before the race too, plus in the first few years much more training for the races offline. Between 2003 and today I've spent thousands of hours in GPL, and I'm still active in it.
For anyone wondering, GPL is the ultimate simraciing experience (in my opinion), released in 1998, and over the years graphically improved by the community to look impressive even today.

Papyrus......one of the greats that died to early...

Finished the original at 118 hours now. Just started Broken Steel. The SE locations were very fun especially figuring out "how" to get everywhere via the tunnels. I figured out turning on "local map" made finding off-the-path hidden doors (hotels, sewers, etc) much easier. Still have point lookout to do. I found all but one of the Keller family transcripts... going to look online to find the last one (only second time I've cheated all game, first time was to get INT bobblehead at lvl 2 start of game), but since I've been everywhere and to my knowledge done all there was to do, it won't be found otherwise.

Q: When I was exploring Tonaka area I heard a madman talking in that area and then at one point I exploded instant death... seems he nuked me? I seemed to have missed that dialog who was he and why did he nuke me?

Sounds like you met the The Preacher in Seward Square.

He's a whacked-out NPC on the 2nd floor of a bombed-out building in an alley. He's lined the alleyway with nukes and mines. If you disregard his warning:

The Preacher said:
"Not one step further! Not one! Come no closer! I'll do it! I'll blow us all to hell! All of us! Me, you... and the worm..."

...he'll hit the trigger and BLAMMO! (intended pun :p ) you, him and the hostage are dead.

Best thing to do is snipe him from the end of the alley where the hostage is. Alternatively, you could use a Stealth Boy to sneak in and toss a grenade where he is then collect all the nukes and mines.

FO3: Yes the preacher guy. I got blown up so many times.

FO: New Vegas: It's the only game I'm currently playing, logged over 40 hrs so far in 2 months. It's a lot of fun. And I plan on getting to about 100 hopefully before I get tired of Fallout.

FO3 I put in over 100 hours and never even finished the game. Too busy doing sidequests I forgot about the actual quest...! I don't even have my saves anymore I don't think.

I'm ready to move on to another game already! But i swore to myself I'd finish this game before I play anything else as intense. It's very immersive and you lose hours of your day once you start it up, and that's a BIG problem for a procrastinator like me in grad school!

This is why I don't play WoW or something, I have game addiction!

And yes Bethesda puts crack in their games. I logged about 200 hrs in Oblivion. Can't wait for Skyrim!

Yeah, I got some nasty crack addiction on Bethseda games. Some very late nights, er mornings, on those games. Hard exercise seems to help counter that though. I usually get too tired to go on, even if it's fun. There's been a couple of times I have fallen asleep playing Bethseda games, not because they were boring, but because I just didn't want to go to bed and instead just - play - a - little - bit - more.

I always think I am going to exhaust the entire game when I play FO3 and FO:NV...but I get sucked into the main story and forget the rest of the side missions...

When I met the YesMan in NV, I just had to follow the storyline...
