I just found an old Power book 3400 C 240 with 144 meg of ram and a 3 gig hdd for $100 bucks. It currently has OS 8.0 installed on it and I want to install a version of Linux since OSX isn't an option this old hardware.

What is the best version of Linux for this laptop? Yellowdog, SuSE, GENTOO, etc...

How do I get this laptop to boot from the cd?

Anything else I should know?????

Thanks

To boot from the CD drive usally you hold down C when its booting up. However, to get Linux installed, you usally need to boot into OS7-9 and install a program called BootX or something like that (i forgot the name) and then it will let you boot off the CD. Its kinda a pain but thats how it is...

Damn that thing is from like 97. Not sure how much you will be able to run on it with any good speed.
