java issues

So, i seem to be having a problem with my java. I downloaded it from here like i always do:
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp?locale=en&host=www.java.com:80

When i go to install it though this happens:
I get this screen:

And then this happens when i click "accept"

I've never had this happen before. I just formatted, and it's worked previously until today. Has anyone else had this issue? Or found a fix for it?? Not having java is a real pain.
 
Remove all previous versions from control panel, and run the installer again?
 
Did that. This was the first time i had installed java. Every other time i've formatted and installed java it's been fine... but not this time.
 
Then download the standalone-offline installer and run it as administrator, dont forget to close all internet explorer or firefox windows before installing
 
1 - Are you running as or installing as a user with the ability to install software?
2 - Is this 32-bit or 64-bit Vista?
3 - have you tried downloading the Offline install? https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHO...ProductRef=jre-6u11-oth-JPR@CDS-CDS_Developer

The offline install is a full installer that you can install without the installer having to connect to the web. It seems like you're originally using the online installer which is a smaller download, but you fetch data during installation.
