Wait, other than being an amazing vacation destination, why would Facebook even have offices in Milan?

Italian officials have stepped up their efforts to collect taxes in recent months and have already targeted other big corporate names such as Google to check whether they are paying their dues. The investigative source said tax officials first went to the offices of Facebook in Milan nearly a month ago to collect documents.

It's happening all over the world. Big multinationals have been avoiding tax in countries by creative accounting for years.

Take Starbucks in the UK. They have been operational in the UK for 14 years but claim they haven't made any money on the operation, hence why they have paid next to no tax.

If things are so bad in the UK operation why is it we appear to have one Starbucks outlet for every 6 other shops on the high-street?

Hmmmmmm........

If those outlets have been around for a while, I would guess it's Walmart Syndrome in which they built them everywhere when they saw the opportunity for growth, then get slammed with economic slowdown of any kind which ends up costing them.
