Two GTX580s should be enough to max the game out at 1080p without incident, not in 3D though of course. A single GTX470 though, that's pushing it really.

Dice didn't specify what resolution. Also not sure if their recommendation is based on the Nvidia's just released Beta driver which boosts performance. Time will tell.

I gave up when the thing said java required . I refuse to put that junk on my PC. I can already tell my 3870s are going to struggle with the game anyway. :D

    Recommended system requirements
    OS Windows 7 64-bit
    Processor: Quad-core cpu
    Memory: 4 gb
    Hard drive: 20 gb
Graphics card: Directx 11 compatible with 1024 mb ram (nvidia geforce gtx 560 or ati radeon 6950)
    Sound card: Directx compatible
    Keyboard and mouse
    DVD ROM drive

    A HD 5870 is just a hair slower than the recommended 6950....so, I'm 90% there for BF3.

At 1920x1200 the HD5870 and HD6950 are pretty much the same. The HD5870 even wins in some titles.

This is just an advertisement for Nvidia. It doesn't tell you if you can run the game, just if you have a new high end Nvidia card.

    Dunno about that...
Your PC's AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series CrossFire meets the game's recommended requirements.

I'm pretty surprised that it didn't tell me I needed a nVidia card though. Guess its not as biased as some think.

This type of stuff wouldn't even exist annoy us if there wern't so many retarded people out there who fall for this crap. There appears to be significant bias, but what you can expect as shady as the TWIMTBP campaign has been with all of the scandels in the various games out there. I thought BF3 was going to be an ATI sponsored game, but this really worries me as the TWIMTBP campaign has brought us a bunch of scandels in the past such as Assassins Greed, Batman AA, Crysis 2 DX11 which tessellated the hell out of stuff that shouldn't have been tessellated, and a couple other examples that I can't think of right now.

My 2x6970s have been lying in wait for this game, like twin tigers of awesomeness.... :p

I'll be very interested to see how 580 vs 6970 stacks up for this game. And also, whether or not the HT of a 2600k vs 2500k makes any difference as well. I know that BC2 really seemed to respond to more cores, I would hope that they expand upon that and take advantage of everything your PC has to offer.

mm, to be honest BF3 seems to me like it'll be the first game I might actually want to play that I can't max out on a pair of HD6970s.

That is what I stated, except my grammer was really bad. I have been feeling like i've been hungover all morning for some reason.

If the ATI drivers arn't multithreaded by the time this game comes out, I suspect ATI cards are going to get murdered. Keep in mind that Bad Company 2 was an ATI sponsored game that always seemed to favor nVidia 4/5 series cards. With this being a TWIMTBP game as well, who knows what in the hell has been done against those who don't have a card from the green team.

To be fair, BBC2 did start out to be better for Radeons. Then the driver issues kicked in, and geforces took an enormous lead that hasn't really subsided since.

Don't be too certain about that.

The minimum recommended specs are a GTX560 TI (if I recall).

I don't have data for the GTX275, but the 560TI handily beats a GTX285 by a pretty wide margin.

My guess would be that the GTX275 would fare somewhere in between a GTX460 768Mb and a GTS450, which really isn't anything to write home about today.

I'm all about making hardware last, I just hope you get the experience you are hoping for in BF3...

The GTX275 compares almost identically to the GTX460 768MB in performance, which is still much better than an entry-level 5 series. It's not, of course, better than the minimum GTX 5 series.

    Estimations from the Alpha:
    HD5870 Graphics limitation (1920x1200): 55fps average, 39fps minimum
    Q9550 @ 3.2Ghz CPU limitation: 108fps average, 71fps minimum

I think it's probably graphics you have to worry about :)

I hope to hell not. I was optimistic about this as AMD was coming out with drivers and a CAP just prior to the beta, which showed they were working together with DICE, at least superficially. With BF3 trying to unseat COD and showcase the PC as a premier system, they would be very, very stupid to "gimp" a significant portion of the market and make it look like PC gaming is a hassle.

My GeForce 9800GT + Athlon II 250 will have to run it. I just bought a AM3 MB and 8GB of DDR3 to put my 4GB DDR2/Am2+ board to rest.

Damn I hate my country and all the expensive stuff around here...

On a related note, I really hope AMD doesn't fuck up with driver issues. They need a bump on their products.

I'm sure DX11 is most of the 'failing'. Lets just hope there isn't an Nvidia bias. A little overclocking and some manual fan regulation and my X2, nearly, 'almost' can play Crysis maxed at 1920x1200 so I am sure I could play enjoying some eye candy in BF3. Depends on how crazy some of the action sequences get at times I suppose. If I'm getting a new video card, I'm getting a new motherboard/cpu/memory too (please wifey!), so when it comes out I'll install it on my current system and go from there.

Given that their current driver is incompatible with Bad Company 2, I wouldn't hold your breath! :D

At 1920x1200 I'd probably anticipate an HD4870X2 getting an average of around 50fps and a minimum of around 40, based on the alpha performance. Given potential microstutter that probably isn't enough for the game to run smooth. You should be alright with a couple of settings knocked off though.

But this is, of course, just marketing horse scabala. :D
I have some GTX260 systems and 5770 systems that I hope will function at an acceptable level.

Your PC's AMD Radeon HD 6570 does not meet the game's recommended requirements.

I'm on my server, so I guess that makes sense. :p

"Awe man, my Nvidia 6800 Ultra wont run it."

Cmon guys, some of you should know better than to even try.
Go get a new vid card.
If the gaming companies waited for some of you to catch up, we would still be playing Quake 2.

GTX275 is a DX10 part, so you'll miss whatever new features are added for DX11.

6850 in Crossfire passes, which is about the performance of a single GTX 580. I suspect I can run near ultra settings at 1080p (since recommended = high).
