Is this SSD (Corsair P3-128) brand new?

I purchased a Corsair P3-128 SSD yesterday, and when it arrived today I noticed that the sticker sealing the box had already been broken. I have not yet installed the drive (I picked it up during my lunch break) but I want to make sure that the broken seal was the result of a packing fluke, and not Newegg sending me a used open-box drive rather than a brand new one.

I have heard of some people reading SMART data to see how much wear and tear their SSDs have sustained. What particular data should I be looking at, and what should I expect from a typical brand new SSD? I imagine there must be some mileage on the drive from whatever testing is done at the factory, but I don't know how much.

Hope I don't have to throw a hissy fit at Newegg. Thanks.

smart data for ssds is generally wildly inaccurate when they're trying to tell you how much wear and tear a drive has had.

90% of the time if the seal is broken I'd assume it's not new.. that's what the seal is there for after all.

If its broke return it.

LIke medicine it shouldn't be broken until the end-user receives and opens it.

5+ SSDs and all sealed on arrival here.
