I purchased a Corsair P3-128 SSD yesterday, and when it arrived today I noticed that the sticker sealing the box had already been broken. I have not yet installed the drive (I picked it up during my lunch break) but I want to make sure that the broken seal was the result of a packing fluke, and not Newegg sending me a used open-box drive rather than a brand new one.
I have heard of some people reading SMART data to see how much wear and tear their SSDs have sustained. What particular data should I be looking at, and what should I expect from a typical brand new SSD? I imagine there must be some mileage on the drive from whatever testing is done at the factory, but I don't know how much.
Hope I don't have to throw a hissy fit at Newegg. Thanks.
