Is this enough for 1080p gaming?

Casual games you can max-out. AAA titles will require you to crank down most of the settings to low, or bump it down to 720p.

Performance is the same as a GT 1030.

Just remember you need to get at least 16GB of fast dual-channel memory to make it all work together. A lot of modern game are getting close to the 8GB usage, so you'll need at least double that.

look at my signature for hardware at low cost that runs 1080p at 70+ fps most games on medium settings.
Unless you want the game (and in-game) loading times to be shorter there's no reason to throw away your hard earned cash on recent tech

Not for me it would not be. Would want a minimum 1050ti, preferably a 1060. Or go with used 970 or 780.

Pretty much this.

I would say a 1050Ti is where you'd want your minimum spec to be for 1080p

Agreed, Honestly I would buy a 1050ti or 1050...just spend like 150 to 250, well worth it.
