Is this a bad monitor or bad video card?

I noticed these blue lines across my screen against a black background.

I know about the normal lines that trinitron uses, but these are new and showed up recently not sure when to be sure.

I will post a screenshot i dont know if you can tell. There are about 10 lines going across with bluish tint to it I am suspecting it might be my monitor only becuase when I trun it on and off it makes some really funky sounds. It is also 5+ years old and is the Sony G420 (though it should still last longer)

If it is a bad monitor I guess now is the time to upgrade to an LCD.

What do you think?

Ok time to upgrade to an LCD.


Now just need to figure out which one to get I heard that new Viewsonic 19 inch is really nice and sweet.
 
WOOT I fixed the problem.

I found out that Sony monitors have an Image Restoration option in menu on monitor itself.

Wow...makes huge difference not only those lines went away...but full of rich color now.


I am very happy was not really ready to go to LCD
