Is there a updated PS newb guide?

Just got into Photoshop, looks pretty interesting. I am running 5.1, I realize there is a steep learning curve but I am unable to find a descent how to guide. I can find ones that say click here for brush etc. Then I find the advanced ones, is there a straightforward guide from newb and work my way up slowly moddifing pictures?

I am looking for some links if you have them, thanks!

First thing, do you have Photoshop CS 5.1, or Photoshop 5.1? Photoshop version 5 is circa 1998.

As for a "how to guide", photoshop is a complex tool with many different uses and abilities. Your question is basically the same as "is there a how to guide for woodworking".

You'll need to describe what goals you have in order to find anything useful for you.

Thank you for getting back to me. All I am interested in doing is learning how to manipulate pictures. Taking people out, putting them in different / funny situations. I have CS5.1
