Is there a PSU adapter I can use for this RGB controller?

How would I get 12V to this controller from the power supply? Adapters, etc?

I'm not using the entire strip. I just want t use about 2' of it an old case without using MB headers. Then I can use the controller to change options, not software. It's just a sort of side project I have going.

Looks like it uses a standard DC barrel plug. Should be able to use an adaptor if you know the specs of the controller (looks like 5A @ 12v?), the polarity of the plug (positive or negative tip), and the size of the plug. Any DC wall adaptor of sufficient spec and correct polarity should work, or a DC->molex/sata power if inside the case. Or you could chop it off and put your own connector on it.

It will be inside the case. Yeah I guess I could just cut it then continuity check it for correct wire alignment. Then solder on an SATA connector.

The included adapter will have a symbol stating the polarity.
If no diagram is posted take a multi-meter and put the red lead in the barrel and the black on the outside.
If you get a positive voltage reading (provided the leads are connected correctly) the center is in fact positive if you get a negative voltage reading the center is negative.

Yeah I know that but if I cut the end off in order to solder on a connector that can connect to my power supply's SATA cable, then how do I now which is which? The wires in there may not be color coded.

Sure, but after you cut the connector off, how do you know which wire is which? Unless I can find a barrel connector to SATA/Molex adapter for my computer PSU, I'll have to fabricate one.
 
Look up or measure the polarity of the barrel connector. Then use an ohmmeter to check which of the wires has continuity with the positive part of the barrel and mark it.
 
The most common DC jack is the 5.5 x 2.1MM some devices use a 2.5MM center pin (just to be 'different' which is a royal PITA) I have quite a lot of These widgets I have both male and the female which is the one you will need if you want to make your adapter.
Does you power supply have any legacy molex (AKA LP4 IDE and I am sure more names) connectors? If so I would get an old fan or adapter and cut the fan end off and connect the two wires to linked connector.

I just took a closer look at the LED strip and the controller say DC input 5-24VDC so you can even power it from the 5VDC power supply line. either way if you are not using the whole kit you will not need a 5A/12VDC power supply

Those products look better then my kludge of an idea! Just make sure the polarity is correct but the new "standard" is center positive but not everyone follows the same "standards"

I actually think my power supply does have molex connector that came with it. I'll have to look again.
