I just realized that my MSI gt72s dominator laptop has a gpu button. It functions a little like Nvidia Optimus. It turns off the nvidia 970m to increase battery life. I am trying to determine if the laptop could still run an old game like BG2 EE on the integrated graphics at 1080p. Given how old the game is it seems like it should work fine.

The laptop has a 6820hk, 32 gb of ram, and an nvme ssd in case that is relevant.

According to some articles on this the battery life would increase by about 50% when switching off the 970m. That would come in handy in my situation.

System requirements
Minimum system requirements:
System:
Windows XP / Vista / 7

Processor:
1 GHZ

Memory:
512 MB RAM

Graphics:
OpenGL 2.0 compatible < should be fine

Storage:
2 GB available space

Sound:
Compatible

Ya, it should be fine. The requirements are so low that you can play that game on a tablet or phone. Not even the high end ones either.
