Is the fan grille needed?

I was wondering whether it's safe to unscrew the fan grille from my Tagan EasyCon 480W? I can't put fan on my heatsink just because of those few mm. So are those screws there only for the grille or can they hold something inside? Thanks for advice.

They hold the fan.

You could probably unscrew two/three of the screws, slide the grille away and screw them back in.

Probably voids your warranty though.

EDIT: +spelling

Thanks. I guess I'll have to stick with no fan on my heatsink then. Sorry for spelling - I'm not native speaker.

I think what he's getting at, is unscrewing three of those screws, rotating the fan grille, screwing those 3 back in so they hold the fan, then unscrewing the fourth, taking off the fan grille, and screwing it back. That way, you'd have the fan securely mounted, without the grille.

I don't think I have enough balls to endure the possibility of ruining my PSU :). But I'll think about it. Thanks for advice.
