Is the Asus VW266H a decent budget monitor?

I like the 1920 x 1200 resolution. I like the size. I like that I can buy it locally, and I like the price, so I'm hoping anyone that uses this model for gaming can comment on their experience with it.

I have two of these connected to one of my computers and am very happy with them. Be aware though, that the color calibration out of the box is horrible. Both of mine were very blue. It took me awhile to get the color calibrated correctly, but I finally used the monitor calibration tool built into Windows 7 and was able to achieve a pretty good color balance.

No especially when you know you can get well reviewed product for less. Sure the screen will be smaller but a few inches is worth it for something you know will be quality and has good default color instead of only going by customer reviews.

I upgraded to the VW266H from a Samsung T220. Before I sold the samsung, I hooked them up right next to one another. The samsung has much better color and brightness by comparison, but the added screen real estate is invaluable. I would never go back. The stand isn't height adjustable, and by default comes pretty low. I had to sit mine on top of a 3" box for it to be at a comfortable height (but I'm 6' 1" and sit up kind of straight).

I agree with the previous poster that the default color on this thing is quite terrible, mine was very green. After some adjustments, it looks fine now.

Newegg has this thing for $250 AR, I think that's a killer deal!

Yeah, some reviews have mentioned poor color out of the box but I'm set on getting a mid sized monitor with 1920 x 1200 resolution and there just aren't that many available.

The color can be corrected pretty easily.

I loved my Asus VW266H and sold it to a forum member about a month ago who is extremely happy with it.

It was great for gaming , tons of inputs , solid contrast and colors (for a TN panel) and cheap. I sold mine to pay for my new system and the nuclear fusion video card reactor I'm running :p
