is that a video card that could support 3 monitors?

i am thinking of going with dual monitors, but i heard that things pop up in the middle of both screens... so then i was thinking of going with 3, cause why not?? i can get 17 inch monitors at a goodwill near me for $15... so with a little persistance i could get 3 matching dell monitors for $45 and then paint them black... is this possible, or am i crazy?
 
you can always just get a shitty pci card that can handle one monitor in 2D well while your good graphics card handles the other 2 monitors


but there are some matrox cards that handle 3 monitors...dont think about gaming on them though...
 
Matrox Parhelia (which can play games reasonbly well)
Matrox P750 (don't try with modern games...1/2 the 3D speed of Parhelia)
Matrox P650 with a triplehead upgrade kit (if you want a silent passivley cooled card, also not for gaming)
 
You can use 3 monitors with a Ati 9100 IGP motherboard with a Ati Radeon card. Thinking of trying that combo myself :)
 
hell, while you're at it (especially if you can get the monitors that cheap), why not just go for two dual-head vid cards, one AGP & one PCI, then run a quad-monitor setup? That way, you can either stack them 2-on-2, or go 4-across for a really wide viewing angle. :D :D :D

yeah, i've seen that thing before....that would definitely be freakin awesome to have....but i hardly think that anyone would be able to get one for the price of 4 monitors and 2 vid cards...or the 9-LCD panel, for that matter...hehehe
 
I run triple monitors myself...and it's the poop...a triple monitor card is not what you want...just get a pci vid card to run the third one...it works just fine...also, check out http://www.realtimesoft.com/multimon/ ...they have a lot of good info on multiple monitors...

And if you wanna see some serious multi-monitor stuff...goto www.9xmedia.com ...they have 10-monitor systems for like $160,000...

Umm, Plasma sucks.

25,000 hour life (they say 17 years, but that is with 4 hours total use a day)
Burn in.. any static image (like a desktop) will burn in, and ghost over anything you show.
weight, they weigh as much as CRTs. (well not quite, but are still heavy)
etc. etc.

i'm not saying that plasma doesn't have its drawbacks, but almost 8 grand for a 22.2" LCD....not in this lifetime....

especially when you can get a larger LCD for a whole hell of a lot cheaper
