I remember it being the most popular back in the day, bar none, but how is it today? It's kind of weird how everyone I knew used it but I haven't seen anyone use it in a long time.

Are we talking AOL the ISP or just the AIM chat client?

AIM is still arguably the most popular chat client.
Anyone who still uses the whole AOL software suite to access the internet needs a wake up call.

From my experience AIM is really only popular in the U.S. All my friends that live outside of it use MSN/YAHOO. And I am talking about the ISP. I remember getting trial discs all the time and using them as coasters. I even remember getting banned from AOL when I was like 13 for going into a chatroom called "pics" I don't know why.

It's still quite popular, especially with the adult crowd.

Less so much as an ISP, but still as their primary internet identity.....e-mail, and surfing the web using the AOL suite.

I'm not a fan of it, but I suppose the older crowd clings to it because of it's suite of software, somehow that's how they navigate around the 'net.
