My bad on the iPad. I thought the USB-C port had the Thunderbolt 3 controller behind it.The iPad has never had thunderbolt and the reason they don’t have it is because Thunderbolt is Intel.
However, Thunderbolt is a joint between Apple and Intel. In fact, Apple was the only company to use it for a long time.
Seriously?USB-C connector, Thunderbolt and charging have nothing to do with each other except the type of connector.
They are also compatible with each other (TB3 and USB-C). It would be the stupidest thing if they weren't.
And they can both sink 100W, so they have a lot to do with charging.
So, if Apple designed the next iPhone with the USB-C like their iPads or with the Thunderbolt 3 like their MacBooks, there would be one complete wired charging solution for most, if not all, mobile phones.
