iOS 10 got released for public beta today. Anybody taking the plunge and running it on their devices? I have it running on my iPad mini 3 for now. May end up installing it on my iPhone 6 if it runs OK.
 
I generally don't beta test, mostly because I need my hardware to operate perfectly without issues. I personally don't have time to deal with glitches. The ones that make it past the beta are troublesome enough.

That said, It'd be interesting to hear about your experience and your thoughts about the new features.
 
Been running it on my 5s since the first developer beta. It's stable so far, but some of the apps I use haven't been updated yet and just crash. I'm getting by without them. My favorite things so far are the new version of Maps (finally competitive with the Google Maps interface after 5+ years in the making) and the lock screen.
 
I've been using my iPad pretty heavily over the past 24 hours and so far it's been pretty stable. Trying to convince myself not to jump the gun and install it on my phone this afternoon.
 
Once you get in the beta program you can't get out without a wipe, and the releases just become a burden.
 
Since Apple added OTA updating for beta versions, I no longer find the rapid releases to be a burden. If a new beta version comes out, I get a prompt and the phone updates overnight.

Going back is a pain in the neck, but so far iOS 10 has been stable enough for me that I haven't wanted to go back. I might have to though if PokemonGo doesn't work on iOS 10...
 
No PPTP support (also Mac OS Sierra) is a big benefit - my company will finally use something more secure!

And to think I worry about security with my IPsec VPN setup at home. I think I'm doing pretty good.
 
Couldn't resist any longer. Installed Public Beta one on my iPhone 6 last night.
 
I've been running Public Beta 1 of iOS 10 for a few days now, and I'm noticing alot more bugs than I initially noticed when I was just running it on my iPad. I fully expected this as it is still a very early beta.
 
most of the bugs I see are related to icons in apps. theyre either missing or don't work.
 
I've noticed a ton of bugs in Public Beta 1. Lots of crashes when using new features (especially in Messages), widgets almost never work, strange UI problems usually associated with animation, rest finger to unlock doesn't work.
 
Already updated. Glad to see they fixed the 'rest finger to unlock' option. Widgets seem to work better too.
 
I'm tempted to install the latest beta. Is there a list of apps that don't work on IOS 10 or is that not something to worry about?
 
I haven't found anything that doesn't work. What seem to happen is icons are missing or don't line up properly. It weird/odd.
 
Beta 4 just got released. Hopefully we'lol see Public Beta 3 in a few days too.

Still hoping they'll sneak in 'dark mode' in one of these betas before iOS 10 goes gold.

I never liked PPTP because it routes ALL traffic through the VPN, not just firewalled traffic.

I prefer VPN's that way. Don't like split tunneling.

Public Beta 3 is out.

New developer beta out today. Kinda strange, only a week after the last beta. No public beta yet though.
 
Really tempted to give it a try. I've been holding out, but usually by now most stuff is ironed out.
 
Public Beta 1 was pretty buggy, but I haven't had any crashes with Public Beta 3 and 4 so far.
 
Public Beta 6 out today.

Kinda bummed that it doesn't look like dark mode isn't going to happen for 10.0.

Public Beta 7 is out today. I'm guessing it's probably just the latest security fixes that came out yesterday.
 
Is it just me or does it feel faster than even iOS 9? I'm assuming it's because of the sped up animations.
 
Beta 7 does feel a little snappier to me. I'm enjoying the betas and the features they are bringing. I have one app that is really buggy and keeps losing settings. Once the dev gets it updated to IOS 10, I'll be set.
 
This is my third time participating in the iOS public betas and I feel that this one has been the smoothest experience. The betas have been very usable and stable since Public Beta 2.
 
I've waited until the latest beta since the first few seemed to have some performance issues. I think I tried the iOS 8 and iOS 9 betas as well. I like iOS 10 so far, although nothing revolutionary here. Lots of small updates/features included.
 
I was really hoping for 'dark mode' to make it in 10.0, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. Hopefully we'll see it in a 10.1 or 10.2.

Yeah. Its just enough for me to think "this is new" but not enough for me to get really excited for it. I doubt that Apple will ever make major changes to IOS. There are too many people who depend on how familiar it is.

10 is a pretty major change. What exactly are you looking for? An entirely different UI paradigm that doesn't rely on the home screen concept? That's not happening.

For the 10th version, I would have thought they would introduce something bigger than they did. I know they will never re-invent IOS, but there are still a lot of missing features that draw people to the Android ecosystem.
