Dear [H] people:

I need your help and advice.
I have the following problem: I work by doing telecommunting and I'm about to move. We're subscribed to Verizon DSL, along with local Phone service. If we order to move the service to the new place I'll stay out of internet for one week straight since that's the time Verizon takes to do the new installation/configuration of the line.

What Cable/Fiber(INDEPENDENT FROM PHONE LINE) company do you suggest that I can rent for a month so I can transition my Internet connection hassle free?

I'm trying to avoid comcast since I've read here that company is a headache.

Thank You in advance.

ISPs typically have a 2 week pre-order period.

If you forgot to line up ordering internet for your new location in time to have it "hot" when you moved in, things you're left with...

:Hot spots
:Cellular data card

DSL companies give themselves lots of time for hiccups, but in my experience, they're generally done in hours rather than days... Just plan ahead and get things scheduled out way ahead

Good thing about Comcast is, most of the time, first month is free, plus the install, but maybe that's too much hassle for just a week's worth

No way using wireless, security reasons.
Monto, next time, please read. There is no point in scheduling if I'm going to go offline and the whole process is going to take a week. I need a parallel, on the side option.
So is Comcast my only choice then and it takes two weeks?

Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:35:33 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>Ok, here is my question. I was browsing through the Comcast website Internet offerings
Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:35:49 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>and I saw a 6 month plan for 19.99 per month router included

Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:37:18 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>So I was thinking about using a parallel service which doesn't depends on the phone line, ergo: Cable
Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:37:48 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>Do you have a plan that is charged on a month to month basis and that I can cancel any month?

Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:50:09 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>Ok, that brings another question
Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:50:46 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>what about the 6 months Internet period for 19.99 that you offer to existing Cable TV users and the 3 month period for new ones?
Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:51:40 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>What I really need is to transition my internet service while I move
Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:51:45 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>without losing connection
Ma. Lorenza(Sat May 23 2009 14:51:57 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>May I ask where did you get the 3 months deal for our Internet??
Ma. Lorenza(Sat May 23 2009 14:52:06 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>I understand.
Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:52:31 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>Since I have DSL I need to use a parallel service
Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:53:10 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>while my DSL/Phone line is moved to the new location. It's a small hassle but I just don't want to lose time since I do telecommuting
Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:53:27 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>I can lose up to a week
Ma. Lorenza(Sat May 23 2009 14:53:51 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>Okay, I can certainly understand that.
Einar(Sat May 23 2009 11:53:59 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>So what solution do you propose?

Einar(Sat May 23 2009 12:14:44 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>Have a great day too, enjoy, bye!

So? From our point of view, What would happen if I only get the service for one or two weeks, as Maria Lorenza put it they expect you to have it for at least a month...30 day money back guarantee? I've always heard about it, never have had the chance to see it in action. Skeptical, yes I am.Now to call the office to find out SPETIAL CONDITION.
