Just got an auto-notify and put an order through for the gen 2 intel ssd. Bing cashback for 10% works.

This is fucking bull, out of stock in less than 10 minutes? I checked my email every 30 minutes all day long, had it IN MY CART and pressed checkout but then there was nothing in my cart anymore! Went back to add it again and its on "auto notify". I'm calling to complain.

They offered me a $10 gift certificate but I declined; 10 bucks says when I go to order it tomorrow, when they claim it will be in stock (8/28), while typing in the gift certificate code it will be REMOVED FROM MY CART again.

Imagine shopping at a brick and mortar store and waiting in the checkout line, only to have your item removed from your shopping cart seconds before you reach the cashier. You go back to the isle where you found it but nope, its out of stock!

I just want the drive (been holding off win 7 install for almost a month now due to this drive). If its out of stock in 10 minutes again I dont think I will even have a chance, its just luck I checked my email at exactly the right time today.

Honestly, some of you guys must not have any life.

These things are selling like hot cakes. Man I'd love to get my hands on one of these.

looks like it but I would prefer to connect the drive directly to the motherboard and not have to worry about another component that could fail. Someone on [H] already posted that the port on their icydock adapter was DOA.

How will a company improve their checkout process if no complaints are filed?

When I order a ticket from ticketmaster, and I go to checkout, it holds the ticket for me in my shopping cart with a count-down timer to let me know how many minutes I have to complete the order before it will be released to someone else.

Now thats pretty extreme, but it would be nice if they didnt remove an item from your cart without your consent and I believe filing a complaint is the only way to do something about it.

Oh BTW, sweet move newegg, moved the in stock date to 9/2 AND jacked the price up a bit.

Real cute though, pretty much a slap in the face to all of us who have been trying to purchase one for weeks now. I wish someone else had it in stock; usually loyal to newegg but screw them for jacking the price up higher than everyone else.

Meh, these things are in huge demand and with any product it makes sense to jack up the price and that it would go out of stock almost instantly. It sucks but it's the way it is.

Right thats what I would expect walking into a store like Microcenter or CompUSSR. I've been a loyal newegg customer since 2002 because they never pulled that kind of crap.

I've been checking every 20-30 minutes the past couple of days. As luck would have it I was out shopping with the wife for a couple of hours this afternoon and missed them. When I got back they were out of stock and the price had gone up $10. I checked again 15 minutes later and now Newegg's jacked the price up another $10 to $250.

Vulcan, you really need to calm down. There will be more stock.

But to really rub the burn in, I capriciously checked my Gmail, saw the notification, went to the site, added to cart, forgot to login, took a good 30 seconds (site slow), then went to pay via Paypal, Paypal's site locked up for nearly a full minute, finally logged in, paid, got the confirmation, logged out and went back to work. EDIT: Forgot to mention that I then refreshed NewEgg's page and vovila, out of stock again.

Checking every 30 minutes will just lead to frustration.

Yeah I'm just pissed now, it wouldnt be a huge deal if I didnt have my i7 build sitting on the desk next to me lacking only the SSD.

Had it in my cart but by the time I logged in it was gone. A little pissed but shit, I waited two weeks. Whats a couple more days.

I'm all for anything that will improve your life but if you think a checkout problem or delaying an Intel SSD drive purchase is a major deal, I feel bad for ya.

I'm more disappointed that I couldn't get it at the lower price with the cashback from paypal + bing 10%

Recession shmesssion, with all of us willing to blow $450 on an 160GB drive, I don't believe it for a second!

stop crying about it! obviously these are in very high demand so you either need to get very lucky or if you have no life, then check every 3 minutes. some people got it, so that proves newegg isn't just lying about it. what's calling them and complaining going to do? they aren't going to magically have them in stock the instant you call. this is a less extreme example, but not everyone wins the lottery. and if you don't win, are you going to call in and said you waited a lifetime and didn't win? so stop complaining.

Oh man I got the auto-notify email today on my way home and 10 mins later it was gone :( Oh well I don't really have the money anyways... ;)

Any other good online places to buy this SSD from besides amazon and newegg?

Amazon's prices is still higher than newegg's, if you want to see a bright side to this price markup....

Newegg is probably THE place to buy it at the moment due to CB + 20 off 200 from paypal. Which is why I wnated one so badly since I have been waiting for the Gen2 for a long time now to finish my build. Hence, why I am slightly annoyed. Though not to the point of calling the egg to complain. I understand you snooze you lose, but still, god damn. I had hoped they would have had stock for at LEAST an hour or so.

pretty sure the 20 off 200 promotion has been dead for 2 or 3 days. figures i'd be asleep when they came back in stock and they got nerd rushed

I just got my 160 today after a tip someone posted on here Saturday night. Installed Win 7 in 11 minutes, including all reboots (from USB Flash Drive). This is a very fast drive.

The blame here lies with Intel not being able to keep up with demand.

There is high demand, thus you get scarcity and short supply. If you don't like that, then you hate the free market, and america and love socialism. Also you hate puppies, apple pie and boobies.

Come on they have had a month since recall to fill warehouse. They knew we were desperately waiting for the G2 drives.

Plus you guys need to have the newegg notifications go to you cell as a text message. Mine cell ususally get the new stock message at 3am when db is updated.

Some people here don't seem to understand how the retail supply chain works. Since the public release of the firmware driver was August 11th, that's roughly 10 business days to restock an entire worldwide release, of which they've already had batches come in and out at various retailers.

Blaming Newegg for something that is beyond their control is laughable, but whining that Intel is dragging it's feet when it recalled almost every single drive they had shipped (when many other manufacturers would just have shipped them regardless) is real comedy.

Wake up people and get a grip.

Ive now had a couple days with mine from the 'in stock' window on Saturday. I had been anticipating the G2 for awhile and the last few weeks waiting for them to fix their firmware had been torture . Now, after playing with it, I can definitely say it was worth the wait. My core 2 duo laptop (x25m g2) feels faster than my oc'd i7 desktop (raid 0 older 15k sas) in many ways now.

Sigh, this is going to be an expensive revelation for me.
