Just ordered (nice post).. Funny thing is, I have been searching reviews, benchmarks, and ebay for both this drive, and a 300GB VRaptor for the last 4 hours... I hit refresh @ newegg and saw this deal.. cheapest I found for sure. + my order came with a ICY DOCK MB882SP-1S-1B 2.5" to 3.5" SSD & SATA Hard Drive Converter - Black - Retail FOR FREE w/ FREE SHIPPING.. not bad..
Will be replacing my trusty 2x Seagate Bar. 320GB 7200.10's in RAID 0..
IYO, what % increase in performance should I expect?
I plan to use this as my OS drive, and throw in a 1TB WD Black for stoage (other than my external's).
Funny how when Newegg finally has the drive at MSRP that people say it is a smoking hot deal. The only thing hot about this is that they actually have it in stock.
that is an ugly ass case, if you wonder why they are throwing these for free althought a decent deali'm just waiting for the 160gb to hit the current price point of the 80gb
Yea ! i don;t understand what all the hype is about this deal at newegg? There nothing hot about it??? I paid the same price at mwave on thursday so this not a hot deal.
This the usual price. this would be hot if they knoced off like $20 bucks
Too bad Newegg pulled their ads, or I might have gotten one.
I should really unsubscribe from their newsletter and send them a nasty e-mail saying why.
it will be like night and day. raid0 is doing nothing for access times. ssds feel fast because of access times, not bandwidth.
so damn tempting.... must resist.
