If anyone who gets in on this deal wants to sell their i7 970 I'll pay $450.

I have been watching eBay and I've seen the glut of i7 970 chips over the last couple of days. I would rather support a [H] member and save someone eBay selling fees. If I end up overpaying by a few $$$ based on the surplus of chips available pushing prices down, I'm all right with that. You can almost do that now.. have you checked ebay?
Are there any good mobos that support dual hex-core i7's? I bet a dual i7 970 system would simply kick ass.
The default multiplier of i7 970 is 24x... Why would you need more? With 200BCLK you can get 4.8ghz... Which is beyond what most chips can even hit with a good water cooler.Mmmm so you have to be in retail to qualify for the 970. I think I'm just going to wait for Sandy Bridge and get me an unlocked processor. ^_^ 970 is a hexacore but it's not unlocked and I'm not sure how it will stack up to Sandy Bridge cpus.
Anything for government employees? All our government computers have Intel CPUs! :|
I've got a walmart gift card for anyone who wants to send me one$255 gift card so $40 profit for clicking a few buttons extra for me .... otherwise.....
....MAN, I HATE YOU FEW GUYS FOR GETTING THIS SO CHEAP!![]()
I'd pay $300 at least for this. I also have a i7 930 for trade if someone is interested.
Intel® Core i7-970 Processor
Intel® Core i7 970 Processor - 6 cores 12 threads, 12MB Cache, .32nm process technology
Sid Meiers Civilization V*
MSRP: $879.991
Price for Rockstars/Rock Legends: $215 USD
Why would they sell it to you for $300 when they can get so much more on ebay? Avg price of all the 970s going for sale on ebay is around ~$600
I don't think anyone thinks someone will buy them this for cost like some people are willing to do for the Frys or Microcenter B&M deals because those deals aren't nearly as limited. People should know they will have to pay eBay or just below eBay prices (since no eBay fees are charged). Thankfully for us non retail people eBay is becoming saturated with chips and prices are plummeting.People are still paying $200-250 for i7 930/950. You guys are dreaming if someone will sell you a 960/970 at or near the promotional cost.
Looks like I qualify, I'll have a go at getting enough chips for the 970. I haven't even finished putting my 950 build together so I'll prolly sell it if I get the new one. Thanks for the heads-up OP.
sell it to me for agood deal?![]()

And if no one is willing to pay you for the time it takes you to become a Rockstar, then your time is worthless.
FYI, per the Terms and Conditions, if it was bought via our purchase program, it is strictly not intended for resale.
Just so you all know, Intel is looking into those who are selling their 970 from the retail edge program. There is a thread in the retail edge forums about it. Not that there is much Intel can do, but I suspect sellers may be banned from the site. Me, I'm going to enjoy folding on my six core i7
And per an admin on the site:
Yikes, this can't be popular with all the people in our forums that bought 980x and 970...
