Seems like a bad time to buy.
How so? I don't the release of something else somehow invalidates the performance of a 7700k at this price...
Think hes talking along the lines of performance per dollar.
Sure, but in the end you still get a great CPU and one is available right now.

Not about validation or invalidation. Sure, if one must have a new CPU today... by all means buy it at this price.
But if you have a working PC that's a SB or better, then the 7700k isn't a big upgrade. A 6-8 core Ryzen may be worth waiting a wee bit longer (next month?). No?
Put off that Intel for pricing the Broadwell 8-core at $1800. Rooting on AMD to bring some sanity back to moar cores.
Stop with that drivel. Don't like it, don't buy it. AMD will not outperform Intel. Just get over it.

Drivel?
Never said AMD would outperform Intel. Only that I'm hopeful they bring back competition soon. Also said buy now if one must.
But some of us aren't Intel Fanbois. Get over it.
Do we know its not? I thought the leaks were good."Wait for Ryzen they said. It might be worth it they said."

If those prices are right, AMD just threw in the towel.This... from the guy who "liked" a nasty post in this thread.
Anyway... The Christian Post is reporting a Ryzen release of early March. They also claim prices of 8 core of $580 to $720. Game changing if accurate.

2600K system still running at 4.5Ghz. Is this much of an upgrade??
I think they are unloading these because rizen is around the corner and might be real competitive.
