Intel Chipsets and CPU's

So I haven't bought an Intel System since the good ole 440bx and Slot 1 Pentium 3 days and recently I've been thinking about picking a budget Intel system with the Pentium D 805. I've looked into the motherboard chipsets and I am thoroughly confused.

If someone can give me an overview of the chipsets and which CPU's they support, that'd be great! Also any motherboard suggestions for the Pentium D 805 would be helpful.
