I have a laptop with an Intel 6200 card that only connects at 144mbps, but another laptop with an Intel 6300 connects to the same AP at 300mbps. The 6200 is listed as supporting 300mbps. The laptop with the 6200 is used closer to the AP. Why is this?

I understand the 6300 is 3x3 and that is faster than 2x3, but if I go to Intel's site it says the 6300 supports 450 Mbps and the 6200 supports 300Mbps.

Pretty sure the 6200 is 3x3 as well. I have both in different laptops and they both use 3 antennas. I would take either in a heartbeat and not sweat the differences.

You usually need to enable channel bonding (40Mhz) and 6200 is 2x2.
