I'd like to be able to install just the driver and do it during the installation of Windows rather than after which would just mean upgrading from the default microsoft driver. I can't find the download on Intel's site for just the driver without the whole RST package and I also need information on exactly how to do the install during the Windows installation.

Sorry for my noobness and thanks in advance for any help and information anyone can provide.

MSI Z97 Gaming 5 is what I'll be getting. I've been to their site and Intel's and all I see is the RST package and not just the AHCI driver by itself. I know such a driver exists and can be obtained by itself, I just can't seem to find it. Not looking for an executable because it's going to be loaded while installing Windows and not after.

Well, one way I thought of is using something like 7-ZIP and actually "unzipping" first the main archive (Intel_rapid_storage_9), then unzipping "setupRST.exe", and so on until you get to the actual driver files (iaAHCIC.inf etc).
    I'll look some more...

If you only want the inf's for Load Driver during OS install, you're looking for what's called the "F6flpy" driver. It's readily available. Here is the download link. Choose the version you want, then look on the left side of the next page to choose f6flpy driver for your OS architecture.

Copy them all over to a USB drive. When you use "Load Driver" point to the USB and it will choose the right one for your hardware.
