Install SQL management studio 2005 and/or 2008 on windows 7

How the hell do you install JUST the management studio for either SQL 2005 or 2008 on windows 7?

I cannot figure it out.

this doesn't work on windows 7, at least it isn't for me, that why I asked the question.

NM:

I think VS2008 or 2010 installed 2008 express and that was fucking with it....

uninstalled all the express stuff and it seems happier now or is at least installing.

I did not want the express version.

I have 2005 and 2008 SSMS on my windows 7 machine, and have had the express tools on at the same without a problem. Are you getting an error?

Using SQL 2008 R2 installation media on a Windows 7 RTM installation:
1) Install the setup support files. There is no way around this. The installation won't continue until you do this.
2) Take care of any prerequisite issues if any are highlighted during the check.
3) FEATURE SELECTION - Under Shared you can select one of the Management Tools options. This will give you your Management Studio.
4) Profit.
