I dunno man. All I know is that, historically, when companies sit on specs and such when an impending release is coming it hasn't been good. The last recent for me was Nvidia's 480/470 lines. By contrast, IIRC, Intel was showing peeks of Nehalem well before release. I remember seeing the Computex shot of 8 threads.
Just sayin...
Well, the Fermi we got my not have been what we (or Nvidia) had hoped, but the GTX480 was still the fastest GPU on the market when it was launched.
So this may or may not be a valid comparison.
AMD also has a long history of being tight lipped before official launches.
