Exchanging sex for positive press? Damn, no one offers me sex for positive press. :D

It turns out that Zoe has become somewhat infamous online, often accused of playing the victim to gain publicity. Speculation turned to accusation yesterday, when Zoe’s ex-boyfriend make a post on his own blog, accusing her (with proof) of cheating with a number of prominent industry figures. Among them was current Kotaku writer Nathan Grayson, apparently solicitating sexual favours for positive press.

Hmmm, I wonder if there's any criminal liability here beyond prostitution. If we were talking about a government entity this would be a serious corruption charge.
 
I was wondering when this was going to hit the news. Reddit exploded yesterday from this story.

Jilted possessive and controlling boyfriend. The amount of misogyny in gaming and tech is disgusting. Why is this title about the dev and not the so called journalists who broke ethics? OH THATS RIGHT! We gotta focus on the woman instead of the menz.
 
Just confirming what I already knew: Gaming review sites are easily bought. Certainly gives a new slant to the phrase "10/10 would bang" though. :(

Which goes to my question, is this criminal conduct? If we were talking about quid pro quos in the government and even the private sector where things like promotions and contracts were given in exchange for sex, that's clearly criminal.

Just googled her and she's a chubster with purple hair. Gaming journalists must have pretty low standards.

People that cheat on their significant others just shouldn't be in relationships.
If she thinks sleeping around for fun is normal, she shouldn't be in a realationship and then there wouldn't be problems.

Look on the bright side, I've never even heard of her or her game before this, now I have.
Even bad press can be good press.

Look, making fun of how she looks is the wrong way to go about this. Your white-knighting of Ms. Quinn is just as bad. There is evidence of corruption here, and to ignore it because of some perceived "oppression" towards female game developers is a dog-and-pony-show designed to obfuscate the real issue. Ms. Quinn is being accused of using that tactic to gain sympathy for herself, which she eventually profited from. That is the issue.

Personally I could care less who Ms. Quinn shares a bed with but the evidence of collusion is undeniable. Futhermore, she should choose better friends. If you are in a situation where Phil Fish is your champion of truth and justice, you need to seriously rethink every life choice you have ever made.
 
Jim Sterling is probably annoyed now, that he did defend her only to now find out she is just has no integrity.

I'll be posting and promoting this vid all over the place, "victims" like her need to be exposed for the shitty opportunistic low lifes there are. Keep crying "wolf" asshole, I'd bet the "harassment" form 4 chan is about to be the lest of your worries.

At this point it's not so much about sex, that not surprising, it's the manipulation and victim act and it's over all impact on the industry.
This is a whole bunch of trash that needs to be removed and she has placed her self right in the center of it. It's not about being a woman, it's about being a crappy human being and manipulating sympathies for her our profit.

The guy never wrote a review on the game from what I could find and the GAME IS FUCKING FREE ON STEAM ANYWAY.

Even if she did sleep with someone for positive press, who the fuck cares?

I'm going to play this game tonight to spite all the assholes trying to shame this woman.

If it were a government entity, they would say "I did not have sexual relations" followed by "I don't recall" followed by "the hard drives were destroyed, sorry", and then they'd blame an intern or someone that is about to retire anyway and give them early retirement and call it a day.
 
If she paid for the positive press by "paying for ads", there wouldn't be a word said. But she sleeps with some people instead and the internet explodes. I can understand the ex-boyfriend making a big deal about it, but why the heck would anyone else care?

Actually, I think there would be a word or 2 said.

Remember Gamespot (i believe) and the Kane and Lynch thing. People were outraged, and rightly so. At least for a while, like this will probably be.

Did you even bother with looking into the evidence? Just a snap judgment like you think we did? Nope I took the time to read search and listen, and yes, I believe she is a parasite on the gaming industry.

I think he's awesome for exposing what she did.

Lets make this clear, I in no way think its awful, slutty etc for somebody to have sex with mulitple people. There is a clear line and distinction between having sex responsibly and having sex irresponsibly.

That said, the reason the boyfriend is awesome for exposing all of this is because of the stuff Zoe's said, the things she wants OTHER people to do around her and the way SHE wants them to act etc, and then doesn't even follow her own morals she imposes on everyone else around her.

So the boyfriend leaking this shit, and outright showing she's a manipulative person who has been playing the media etc for her own SJW movement agenda, just helped defuse a situation she herself had been building for months now.

Just like the video coming out showing that Anita has ZERO interest in video games completely destroyed her reputation, all this info coming out shows that just like Anita, Zoe cannot be trusted in any way possible.

There is no trust issue. You can either play her free-to-play game or you can ignore her game.

Besides, why should we just assume the ex is telling the truth rather than being vindictive? Trying to drag someone down like this guy is doing is tasteless. The guy's shown that his own character is poor.

Yeah, cause copy and pasted LOGS from the boyfriend and other people is just accusations.

Cause she's been speaking out saying men are evil sexist pigs etc, that everyone that doesn't like her game is misogynist assholes, that gaming "Needs to change to protect people like me" when her own actions is whats caused the backlash against her, not her game and not her gender.

Keep in mind the last 4+ years the SJW in gaming media is a 100% completely fabricated thing, this has been fabricated by gaming media now for ages because everyone stopped clicking on their links.

I mean fuck, look at Jack Thompson, every time that asshole stuck his foot in his mouth he got like 2 billion hits on media's pages, hits mean clicks, clicks mean ads, ads mean money.

The gaming media has been running these stories as pure click bait, because they know that publishing articles that have gamers being attacked pisses off gamers and makes them click website links, to look up their sites etc.

There is signs though that the gaming media has started moving away from this angle though as its been generating nothing but bad press for them, and lots of advertisers have been pulling out on them over it, most recently Gamespot fired two SJW writers, Kotaku fired four and their one key one left Patricia Hernandez is on such thin ice that one of her recent SJW feminist rants the editor in charge made her rewrite it because it was bordering on outright libel.

And when she sleeps around with the gaming media to only print good things about her and to post her views about how your an evil man for liking another game and not her game, and that other games should be like her game and if they're not they're terrible and sexist.

Yes, clearly by me not playing this game I am keeping this from becoming an issue in gaming.

Oh wait, no it didn't, I didn't care about it before, I don't care about it now, and look at the situation.

Never heard of this game (or this chick) before this (that I remember at least). Now I know the name of the game. So this proves that even bad press is good press.

No desire to buy the game. Would watch a sex tape though, as I have the feeling it would be hilarious.

It is certainly unethical, criminal is unlikely ... we don't hold game reviews to much of a standard ... they were already pure opinion pieces which made them susceptible to everything from monetary manipulation to someone with strong conflicting personal (or even business) interests ... some reviews are not much more than an infomercial as it is

The things that make a company or business actions criminal are where they actually violate an existing law (usually around the finances of public companies, which are highly regulated) ... I am not sure what law would even cover the integrity of a game review ... if she were part of a public company and her actions were sanctioned by management then there could be criminal implications (primarily from the stock side) ... as an individual it might rise to sexual harassment or something (if she had been coerced) but outside of possibly violating his own employer's ethics rules (for the reviewer) I don't see much ground for criminal prosecution here
