Indiana Jones videogame teased by Bethesda

Mouse and keyboard.

Because I don't want to stand around for 3 seconds waiting for my character to turn or look up/down when you need to do that a lot in this game. I also don't ever recall the game telling me to use a controller.
It says right in the beginning that this was designed for a controller and to plug it in and relax and lay back and enjoy the game.
I freaked out for a moment thinking that the game "required" a controller to even work.

This is the only video I could find that shows the initial startup screens for the PC version (first 3 minutes). Nothing about using a controller.

I have the Steam version and it literally kicked back to desktop during initial startup showing pictures of various controllers telling me that it was highly recommended. And I know there's at least one streaming version out there that you have to have a controller and the keyboard and mouse is not even an option.

That didn't happen on the Xbox App version, so I don't know what to tell you.

When you watch footage of a game your first idea is "Oh I must watch other sources as well because this might not be representative"? As I've said: I had no reason to distrust the source.

I think I'd have enough common sense to know that source was crap. And yes I click a few videos because I never rely on one single preview/gameplay video. I would never use whatever streamer that was (or any streamer IMO) to get an idea on a game again.

Yeah he doesn't show the initial start up either, that moment he's complaining about his second monitor is when it happens, by the way I had no issues with mine.
It happens as soon as you load the game the first time before the logos appear on Steam.

great....hope i can rebind controls as a lefty and play it....since I can't in stalker 2.

It's running like shit on my system. I have low latency mode turned off but it's still stuttering to the point where it's unplayable. I'm getting 110fps then it drops to like 38fps every few seconds for a quick second then pops right back up to 110. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm indoors or out, if there are other characters on the screen or not, night or day. I've change my memory allocation from ultra to high then back to ultra with no discernable difference. I'm playing the PC Gamepass version.

i dont believe it, everyone else says its perfect... ;)

also not sure why everyone is so shocked that an xbox game recommends a controller....

Apparently the auto-save make a big stutter occur (and according to digital foundry cannot be set to off in the settings right now)... which would occur regardless of visual settings.

I looked at that but it's not coinciding with the auto save and it's happening way too often. I'll give it a few days to see if it's a common enough issue for someone to figure it out.

Have you checked your memory usage in the ingame metrics? The problem you describe sounds like "out of VRAM" type of issues. Could also be worth trying to turn the memory texture pool settings even lower.

will see when digital foundry make a video about it, but first impression, Id Software got pathtracing to run faster than the others before (it is one thing that the Intel spokeperson doing the reviewer tour talked about B580 capacity at raytracing, game get better and better at it and you need less and less hardware for it to be useful to them, specially those who go all in and built it from the ground up just for it type of effort)

"needs a controller for the best experience" = recommends a controller to me.
I've never seen a game that said "Needs a controller for the best experience", especially a FPS.
"We recommend a controller or a controller is recommended for the best experience" yes.

To me it sounds like you can play the game with a controller, sans kb/m.
But that's just me, I don't think anyone is wrong, but the wording could be different I guess.

You can Sit back and relax with a controller with a Keyboard not so much. It's one of the reasons I'm kinda hesitant with Pantheon being released don't want spend hours in front of a keyboard. MMO giving you rounded shoulders. Valari Pillow to the rescue

Could be my chair you gotta figure your arms are up on the table the entire time.

No.

I get this:

500 error, our wires got crossed

I'm glad you guys called that one out before I made a fool out of myself and started a thread smh.

The premium edition is even free on humble bundle so get that instead.

And why is this free???

Slightly off topic, but am I the only one who saw Last Crusade in the theater?
Nope. I saw it that summer of '89 with a girl I was dating at the time. The movie theater was located in a large mall; however, today, the theater is gone and a food court is in its place. I loved The Last Crusade far more than Temple of Doom.

That's what I thought initially but it would give me a warning if I exceeded my texture pool memory limit. I have 16GB of video memory which should be plenty for the high setting but I'll check it again using the metrics next time I play.

Is it just me or does something feel off with the mouse input? I thought it was just because I was getting ~60 fps in the intro jungle scene, but even at 100+ fps it feels off. Overall keyboard controls are kind of clunky as well, might just switch over to controller.

Graphics look stunning though, and it runs way better than the recommended specs implied. Path tracing is a mixed bag. Some scenes look pretty similar, but others are transformative. Really impressive difference in the caves in the first level. I tried snagging some screenshots with the Nvidia app, but it just took screenshots of the desktop on my second monitor for some reason. Something to do with the Game Pass version maybe?

Speaking of Game Pass version, frame gen is completely busted. Seems to disable itself if you open the graphics settings menu. And when it does work, you get 180+ ms frametime spikes that make the game unplayable. Does the Steam version also have this issue?
