Indiana Jones videogame teased by Bethesda

He has 4k monitor in his sig but no way in hell he is staying at 70 fps at 4k with DLSS quality and no frame gen. Even on balanced it cant keep that framerate with maxed path tracing.

EDIT: Maybe Vatican area is not very demanding.

I'm posting the pictures to show what I've seen to prove I'm not making shit up. I had absolutely zero reason to assume foul play and that the stream I watched would not be a good representation of how the game actually looks like.

It only takes you a few minutes to find other videos/screen shots, like the ones posted in this thread. Whatever streamer you watched was playing on a potato PC. I'm not sure why you're only using that as a reference point.

I'm not sure what settings these are at:

But I do know it looks nothing like this, from a graphical quality standpoint:

When have steam concurrent players ever been unreliable?

Since forever. It only shows one store on PC (although the most popular on PC). Concurrent player count matters more for multiplayer games. As mentioned, not everyone plays games they buy day one. I'm not really sure why this is a new concept for some people now. We've all bought games and ended up playing them months later.

If a game peaks on 5k on launch day that is not a good sign and we can absolutely make assumptions based on that.
If a game only gets 10K active players there won't be a million people who bought it just haven't played it either. It's not that I want the game to be a flop, I'm just calling it as it is.

Its not even the end of the 8th yet, so if you're using that metric, at least wait until a day has passed since release. Only people who own the more expensive $100 version get pre-release access. Don't ask me why they're doing this with single player games now, but they are. Most people buy regular editions and then buy DLC later if they liked the game.

Wow, as a 47 year old Indy super fan, I can't stop smiling playing this! They absolutely nailed the feel of the first three films (don't even get me started about the other movies!). Just a heads up if you are Nvidia user and noticing some weird frame rate hitches and low GPU usage, make sure to turn off Low latency mode in your Nvidia control panel. There is a bug currently that causes performance issues with it enabled. With my 4090 / 3950X and everything maxed including full path tracing, I am getting about 65-70 FPS at 4k with DLSS set at AUTO. The first level was the most graphically demanding with me averaging around 60FPS. I am not running Framegen as I was actually noticing lower frame rates with it enabled alongside path tracing. Might be a bug as others on Reddit are reporting the same issue. Can't wait to play this more in the days ahead!

I have to wait and play more STALKER 2 before I get this … cause I probably won’t stop playing it.

Played about an hour. Surprised so far how fun it is so far, granted an hour isn't enough to peel back any woke. First mission takes you back for sure.
My main issue so far, 12900kf/3080 im getting 100+FPS 3440x1440 with custom settings, but there is an every few second drop in FPS that comes across as a quick hang/frame drop while the game seems to move smoothly otherwise. It didn't happen until the first "main" mission and hasn't stopped post. Don't have this happening with any other titles. Updated Nvidia drivers etc. Curious if its me or maybe others have seen this, but it really puts a damper on the game.

music, voice acting is on point.

Xbox Game Pass - did not directly pay for it.

If you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can stream the game.
Gonna give it a shot later tonight if I have a chance to see how it plays streaming.

If you don't have the hardware, you can try this option. Only requirement is you have to play with a controller, it won't launch without one connected.

Probably running out of VRAM.
What setting is your Texture Pool at?
Try it at High, and if that doesn't help, try Medium.

Game was jacked. I restarted it and now path tracing is magically running good. Frame gen is still broke for me though. If I leave it enabled after restarting the game it'll work, but has massive stuttering.
Game pass version? If so then frame gen is supposedly broken on that version of the game.

POE2 stole my weekend but I just wound up throwing like 4 more hours into this

Game is absolutely great so far

When you watch footage of a game your first idea is "Oh I must watch other sources as well because this might not be representative"? As I've said: I had no reason to distrust the source.

Been playing it since very early GMT, about 4 hours in. Fabulously smooth on my 6950xt at 4k and supreme settings (looks to be running 50-60s FPS mostly)

Great game so far. They did some choice work on character models, animation, and shadows and sun rays. A few low res textured here and there and some popping, but not too bad. Controller really is the way to go with this one: I broke out my old PS4 Dualshock which works great.

All in all, a great surprise how good this game is. In addition to great graphics and seeminly optimized performance up and down the scale, it nails the Indiana Jones atmosphere of the first three films. They really did the source material justice, not surprising it's already being called one of the best licensed games ever.

You can,see my video. I'm in Giza which is one of the more demanding areas and you can get 60fps 4K with DLSS Quality around the village otherwise it's 64fps+ most times. Balanced takes it up to ~85fps typical or 75 ish in the village.

The game maximises VRAM by the way, in some areas in Giza I saw total VRAM use hit 23GB for moments before settling back to 20-21GB. the game alone at those times is using 19GB VRAM, so total inc system use is a few more GB which is typical unless you close everything down before gaming which I do not. No fps slowdowns though so the engine is managing memory efficiently on a 24GB card.

Turning off FG fixed the stuttering for me. What a fantastic game. Love the hand to hand combat and pretty much am trying to knock out everyone. This is going to be a nice time sink in between my other games. Might need to watch some Indy movies now.
In the Vatican I am doing about 80-90 fps. In the first forest I was about 75 but with stutters. Mostly it hovers between 80-100 fps and very playable once you turn off FG. Maxed out Supreme settings. No motion blur.

They should have called this game Indiana Jones and the Great Surprise, because it is doing just that across the board it seems. :)
Don't see why one should be surprised; it's made by machine games with id tech. Even bethesda knows better than to interfere too much.

They clearly are surprised, though. Look at many of the replies.

Perhaps it's less about MG and the engine and more the fact that many games based on movies struggle to be good, much less great like many are saying this one is. I dunno but the reception across the board definitely seems to be more "Wow, this is actually really good and better than I expected" and less "Haha, I knew Bethesda wouldn't disappoint with an Indiana Jones game in 2024!"

Plus, the last two Wolfenstein games from MG seemed to garner a very mediocre reception.

But the biggest surprise is that this 2024 game is practically indistinguishable from the original Mafia :ROFLMAO:

It wasn't noticeable at first, but they did the paint thing to show you where you can climb and now I cannot "not" see it. It's not as annoying as yellow paint, but still.

Put it another 4 hours last night, most of the time trying to figure out how to get to collectibles marked on the map. You need to progress the primary and field work missions to open up more of the map. If a door just says the generic "Locked" or "opens from the other side" then you need to make progress in the story. I stopped after progressing to what the game explicitly told me was the last story mission in the area for now. You are thankfully free to go back to previous locations, so you can come back if you missed something. You will not have enough money or medicine bottles to buy all the skill books on your first visit.

Have to say they did an excellent job with the dungeons. The platforming is intuitive in spite of the white paint/cloth and can take a moment to see how you need to progress. Same with the puzzles so far. Though puzzles are right now press the buttons or flip the switches in order, you do still need to investigate your surroundings to figure out the right order, which can involve taking pictures or deciphering a code. It's engaging enough to feel like you accomplished something, but not too hard as to waste your time.

I do find that the AI is already becoming really easy to deal with since it seems like you're able to max out your melee damage very early in the game. While I was relying on stealth in the first few hours I am now able to take on every enemy in the area without dying while exploiting some quirks in the AI. You can easily fake the AI out when they take a swing at you, allowing you to get free hits in. When they all come they tend to bunch up in front of you, so you don't have to worry about being attacked from the sides or behind. The only thing you need to worry about is getting shot in the back by Captains. You also suffer no consequences for repeatedly taking out all the Blackshirts and soldiers in a given area as they respawn when you come back. This is on the Hard difficulty setting (3rd out of 4). I want to try it on the hardest difficulty now.

I am running the game at 3840x2160. Sometimes it will drop to 60 out in the open. It goes up to 80 in dungeons.

Thanks, ill mess around some more. I've tried everything to absolutely low and still get this stutter. Wondering if its a Game Pass version issue. Again, don't have this on any other titles I've played.

The Game Pass version is not up to snuff like the Steam version is last I heard.

I like having the Blackshirts bunch up on you, as long as you have any melee item equipped, you can hit multiples of them with one swing which is great since most clubs break after 3 swings.

That doesn't surprise me. Palworld was the same; Gamepass was always a patch or three behind Steam.
Always been that way. But you gotta take some concessions when you get the game for a heavy discount or basically for nothing if you did the long term conversion.

Because when people are really excited for a game they'll buy the ultimate edition. Starfield started on 220k players its early access period and peaked at 330k when the regular version unlocked. With sub 5k early access player count this game will be lucky if it can break the 10k barrier on the 9th.
I'm Excited about it, But i'm not buying some $100+ dollar edition to play early. Yeah, We see how starfield turned out, Look at the forum here for instance. So it's little wonder people didn't want to be fooled a second time just a year later.

Controller. Why would anybody want to use a mouse and keyboard with this type of game? It even tells you that you should be using a controller when you start the game.

Are you guys using a controller or a mouse/keyboard?
Mouse and keyboard.

Because I don't want to stand around for 3 seconds waiting for my character to turn or look up/down when you need to do that a lot in this game. I also don't ever recall the game telling me to use a controller.
