After a long investigation, Google was slapped with a $5 billion dollar fine from the European Union over anti-competitive practices last year. Now, according to a recent report from Reuters, the same thing might be happening in India. One of Reuters' four sources "with direct knowledge of the matter" said this investigation "Is on the lines of the EU case, but at a preliminary stage." The publication mentions that Google got hit with a relatively meager $19 million dollar fine for "search bias" in India, but that Google appealed the casing, saying it could "cause it 'irreparable' harm and reputational loss." In other words, Google might be worried about more than just the fine in this particular investigation. A separate report said that activists are calling on the Indian government to summon the heads of various tech companies, which certainly wouldn't help their reputation in the country either.

"The CCI will have a tough time not initiating a formal investigation into Google given the EU case, unless they can show the problem has been addressed (by remedies)," one of the sources said.

That single fine could almost pay for a wall. Just thought that was interesting.
Just think if the us government handed out these fines to big tech companies for violating privacy issues and such, we could have walls all around America.

I always find it amusing that the world's richest companies can be so blindly greedy. Nobody is ever satisfied with being overwhelmingly wealthy. They have to always be more. Leading to the stupid kinds of trivial anti-competitive BS that ends up wasting far more money on lawyers and fines than they would have ever lost by just not doing what they're guilty of doing.

yea, cuz that wont incite hate and fanatical negative opinions about the US.

Instead, all that money could be used to make america so welcoming, so much better of a place to live than anywhere else, that it would be idiotic and stupid to hate the place. Remove reasons to dislike/hate ...instead of build upon them. Then when someone attacks the country, the entire world responds ...instead of leaving the place to be the lone isolationist some would have it be.

You made a funny.

only in the saddest sense, since it's totally within our power to be that way but instead we're so far removed from it that it appears like an unattainable ideal.

I'm all for immigration.. it just needs to be legal though.

EVERYONE coming across the border needs to go through a LEGAL point of entry.

People seem to think that only allowing LEGAL immigration is somehow immoral... which is absolutely and undeniably ludicrous.

And we don't need to be letting in fake refugees either. Look at all these other countries letting in whoever claims to be a "refugee". Look at all the problems it has brought them.

The government of ANY nation has the responsibility to protect its citizens, not bring in countless "refugees" who turn out to be nothing but thugs/rapists/murderers just because the officials want the world to think of their country as being compassionate even though it is really the complete opposite.

Edit: Could maybe be political so removing comment

:D

Keeping on track though...Google and others need to be hit in many many regions with fines like these to curtail the idea that they can get away with whatever they want.
