Increase volume in only movies

All video clips I have play the music very quietly, and I have to max out my volume to listen to it. The problem is, when other things make noises, it BLASTS it, and scares the shit out of me. Is there a way I can make video only play louder? Maybe I need a new codec or something?

Try looking in your mixer settings for the sound card. Usually, the soundcard lets you set individual volumes for things such as WAV, CD, MIDI, MIC, etc. Sounds like (pun ) the WAV setting might be too low.
