In windows, do you experience slowness when you switch from one user to another?

I'm on Windows 10 Pro 22H2. 3 or 4 users are usually logged in my main machine. The two main users tend to leave so many programs open even when not in use. For example, one user (let's call him X) will have like 30 firefox windows open + 5 edge browser windows + few word documents + few folders, acrobat reader, image viewer. Other users will have the same behavior but little less. RAM is at 50% most of the time. When I switch from any other user to user X, it will take sometime before the desktop is usable as if you are booting the computer. I have 64 GB of RAM, and you can see other specs in my sig. Is this normal behavior and my rig is just showing its old age? I mean why would it take time if things are already loaded into RAM?

probably because of all the shit "x" has left open. tell them to knock it off, especially if this is a work situation.

Well, X needs his shit to be there all the time for quick access. He is writing a paper and needs all sources to just be there instead of opening them every time he logs in. This is a home machine.

tell your family to knock it the fuck off. it doesnt have to be instant when its fucking with other people.

Firefox has a few extensions that would solve your family members issues. I think one is called tab stash... there are a few others I'm sure. The idea is they allow you to save a bookmark of open tabs. So you can take your 30 open tabs and save them as "Research for project X" then close them all. Come back later and click the research for project x book mark and boom all 3 tabs pop back up. They can then wait the couple seconds it will take for them to reload.

This should make both your and their life easier. They can open their research tab explosion on other machines, and you can ask them to close their tabs when they are done.

Sounds good. I see that it is similar to when you force shut firefox and you will then use the restore session button to restore all your tabs. Will give it a try. Thanks.

There’s also browser extensions that will sleep tabs until they’re needed so he can keep the tabs open but suspended.

Did anyone even catch the fact the OP mentioned Windows 10 and multiple sessions? :ROFLMAO:
How is that possible.. unless you have some sort of "terminal services" workaround/hack/wrapper, etc...
